i'm a survivorof 2 civilwars, Ghana, Lebanon, all before the age of 11. The result was immigration to 3 continents as a teen, which leaves an influence upon the soul that cries out for justice. My poetry and writing reflect that and more.
May this EID bring peace to all places that are at war. Sacrifice is a part of life, and without it, peace can’t be achieved. May it brings peaceful resolution to all wars, bringing together humanity as a unit that works together for the creation of a better future for our children.

Her hazel eyes look into the mirror, What she sees is a wonder. In the reflection, ‘La Vie en Rose’ Covered with a pinkish screen as she pose.
She lifts her hand, extends her index, Grazes across the glittery surface, that’s a fox, Wily and intent on showing her only Beauty, utopia, family, and community,
Trying haughtily to impose a vision Of fidelity, that’s as rotten a passion As Eve’s apple; who thought it would Impower her with Knowledge, Immortality
When, in reality, it highlighted her Faults and sexuality through a picture Of nudity and immorality. Her curiosity, pride were her downfall from all heavenly.
The gorgeous woman’s gaze turned Inward, subconscious awareness aged With centuries of data, she becomes Cognizant of the struggles of generations
That tried not to give her her power. The power of a woman that’ll never Let pride, shame, sex be the means used For her destruction that stays unpardoned.
She’s swiftly swung into a new Path, where women are revered, as few Are, for their strengths, nurturer, Culture, and self-awareness that is a propeller
Into an age of her distinction, acceptance, Integration, and sociopolitical presence. A long journey whence she grew Out of a subjugation in a pew.

I’m honored, humbled by the accolade for my work as Moderator at Led Pen. I feel that it’s truly a joy not work as I read other’s work, perspectives, metaphors, and verses that impact the way I perceive things. Thank you for the honor.

Her vision narrows through the arid hole Where she sees a man atop a hill, a mole Who helped in destruction of the earth Turning it into a desolate world of sand whose breath
Is filled with thistly particles that engorge The throat with thorns that need a purge Or turn health into illness, Living alone atop that hill in a listless
Desert reigning over despair Knowing that he was an active pair In the deterioration from beauty To sandy winds that topple civility
Into dunes where prosperity Is only for the elite, a conspiracy That turned the world into unquestionable Infertility, where hunger is undoubtable.
Through the peephole of her vision, Her tears flow quenching the parched station He stands on with the life giver, water Raining down in a vision of fertile harvester.

The Royal Bengal tiger lazes On the tree branch, his spotted coat frizzes In the heat, while his tail dangles In time with the grandfather clock, never tangles
As it moves in the air, swatting Flies, while his eyes revere the butterflies flying, Their blue wings flapping, unafraid Of the predator whose paw is laid
Circling over the branch, lazily Waiting for real prey to materialize fully Before he engages in a chase To be what his nature dictates, carnivor, not haste,
Patience is his forte for he waits Patiently, no excessive movements To give himself away, until, patience Is rewarded and prey has no prayer in face

Her memory of her decrepit home Is fueled by her emotions of love As each memory climbs the stairs Of her vertebrae pairs
Fears, failures, successes, wins While the climbing red hibiscus pins Each step with a blood red popping Flower that recalls triumphing
Against trends, unbreakable chains That bogged her life with pains She upended with optimism, passion For living life with discipline, faith Carried her through the quagmire stealing breath
As she surmount it all, regal, queenly, As she faces what’s necessary, Ignores the unimportant, treads carefully When diplomacy is compulsory,
Then she asserts her vision Of the world through action, She leaves her imprint Without being an obnoxious pint.
