Certificate of Excellence for my poem, What If?

What an honor!

What If …

What if war was a warm wreathe
Filled with colors that please?

What if snow’s icy feel was velvety
Warm and inspires healing coldly?

What if humanity hummed a hymn
Filled with hope, harmony haunting grim?

What if there is only acceptance,
Understanding, friendship, peace?

What if your entourage were supportive
And fulfilled its quotient of depression’s curative?

What if the sky and seas became
One, melding colors, baking but grim?

What if the mountains and valleys
Came together in a crash of ash and clays?

What if the living and dead walk
The earth together,  what will they about talk?

What if you’re born an adult, regress
Into babyhood, then die as a baby’s bless?

What if black were white, and white
Were black, how would dichotomy be a plight?

What if time leapt back to lack technology,
Would humanity still have posterity?

Accolade and Review for my poem,  Window of Time

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab Wow! “Knowing that joy, eternal, an antidepressant/Is your only rebellion not to live in a cast.” Oof! Bam! Kapow! The entire poem was lovely, deliciously evocative and then you land a knockout blow with that final thought. Nicely done. By Tara Hicks

Such a beautifully sublime poem, Malak, so many amazing images! Time, “mercury slippery,” is a brilliant comparison. You’ve wonderfully transformed the mural into an intriguing metaphorical narrative. The serpent of fear slithers in the branches of an ancient tree upon which scary bats hang. Yet a cardinal of grace sings of hope eternal, of endless time that cannot be stopped. Like that cheerful bird, we must accept the past that can’t be recast, we must “soar in the present.” Being joyous to live in this present, that is part of the eternal, is the way to true freedom. It is a spiritual rebellion! Superb rhyme scheme and rhythm, excellent sophisticated tone and composition. Fantastic, encouraging poem, Brava!! By Linda Powers O’Dell

Window of Time

Through my small window
The world revolves around time,
Time, intangible, like mercury slippery, a crime
Not to stand still and let it flow

Slowly around you as you
Watch the ancient tree’s branches
Reach out to the sun in gnarled bunches,
The resting place for the serpent you

Fear as it slithers from place
To place spreading its evil along
The aid of bats that string you along,
Yet on the other branch rests,  with grace,

The red cardinal whose beauty,
Color, elegance speeds your heart
With hope eternal, limitless in its great
Licenses for carrying hope on wings that flew highly

Into the vastness of a blue sky
Knowing that time,
Rhyming with lime is a transient crime
That can’t be stopped unless you try

To soar in the present
Understanding the past, that can’t be recast,
Knowing that joy, eternal, an antidepressant
Is your only rebellion not to live in a cast.

Triple Diamond Certificate for my poem, Rose of the Book

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Rose of the Book

From this page of the ancient book,
This delicate pink rose has traveled
The seven seas, ancient empires have seased
To exist, while its beauty, color, and break

Grow into the roots of the nook in the book
As it cascades its freshness, fragility,
Strength, and independence in lacy capacity
Of petals that rise towards the sun to look

On humanity’s history book
Guarding its secrets, fragile, violent,
Yet, it rebels and grows still resplendent
In a lackluster world filled with a crook

Intent that borders on sacrilege against the book
Of God, that brooks no uncertainty
In knowing that the perpetrators will simply
Be punished for their irreverent belief in a look

Of masked piety that reveals its artifice
When faced by the innocence of the blooming rose.

Accolade and Review for my zigzag poem,  Wonder Naturally

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab A beautiful poem extolling the wonders of all the seasons! Such delightful details:the many colored petals, the trilling birds and sly worms, the frolicking chicks, the falling leaves. These leaves don’t just die;they feed the forest so that it revives in spring after winter’s dominance. These are all sources of natural wonderment! Superb poem!!
Hi Malak, there are several types of zigzag poems. The one I am most familiar with and use quite often indents the lines to form a zigzag pattern. I believe you are using it to mean alternating shorter and longer lines? This is an awesome new form for our list. Thanks for introducing it! By Linda Powers O’Dell

Zigzag poem

Wonder Naturally

Foliage free-flowing
Green, red, petals many colors
Explode in summer bliss,
Spring, beautifying the great scene
With wonder and birds that
Trill as they forage for sly worms
Calling out, frolicking
With mates, chicks, communing to, fro
Nature’s wonderment fly
As they all play role fallen free
Leaves scatter in a fall
Feeding forests with ease, ploy, coy
To rejuvenation
After frozen scenery won.

Platinum Certificate for my poem,  Encased in Flowers

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Encased in Flowers

She seems to float over flowers
Pastel colored in pinks, lilacs, beige,
Surrounding her while they adorn her beige
Print dress filled with flowers.

Her svelte figure elegantly slides
Across the garden she walks through,
Her mind filled with beauty’s flow,
Effect, inspiration that has no ends.

To her each flower is a promise
Of power, where fragility isn’t vulnerability,
No its delicate countenance presumably
Is nothing but appearance,

Their roots are sturdy,
Their leaves filled with hues of greens,
Their slim stem carries hope that leans
Towards humanity in simple beauty.

Certificate of Excellence for my poem,

Thank you,  administrators,  for the honor and your hard work 👏

Blooming Spring

Bloom, blooming,
Blossom, blossoming,
Sprout, sprouting,
Live, living.

The greens and burgeoning bushes,
Flowers, and trees are heady bees
Working hard to overthrow Winter’s
Deadly stagnation by flipping switches

That spring with bubbling streams,
Vibrant greens, and flourishing branches
Heavy with new life seeded by birds
And the bees.

How is it that you can see growth
Within the beauty of nature and mouth
Off that you’re an unbeliever in faith
That GOD exists and helps the resurgence

To take place, while beauty that usurps
The dreary with life that cups,
Embraces, and soars into the cusps
Of quiescent delicacy, flawless in its

Need to beautify the world with
Its wondrous fragility, whose growth
Into stupendous strength,
Refreshes your belief in Godly faith.

As spring springs with sublime
Beauty, festivities abound In a crime
Against nature, as man destroys time,
That can’t return, as feasting needs a compromise

For harvesting can asphixiate
The breath in the soil seeking a fate
Of rejuvenation while waiting in a straight
Line, awaiting death’s suffocating blow.

Sweats

If you were forced to wear one outfit over and over again, what would it be?

After Covid, we became lazy and only wanted our comfort today, so, yes, I’d wear sweats over and over again. However, that doesn’t mean that I’ll not alter the colors nor forgo my usual style that goes hand in hand with comfort, color, color, and more color. That is all it takes for me to feel better!
