Accolade and Review for my poem, QUILL

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab What a lovely acrostic, Malak! To address a personified quill is such an intriguing, rhetorical way to address your theme. Piety and self-restraint are being lost to egotism and self-interest. What delights me most is that it is the quill that has failed to prevent this change by underscoring it, by speaking out, and now the poet asks the quill for advice on how to reverse this change. This irony is poignantly clever! Thank you for sharing this superb poem!! By Linda Powers O’Dell

Perfect purity is putty, muddy
Endlessly being turned into war
Anchoring evil doers in thrones of power
Carnivorous in their cruelty, heinous
Evil activity that needs to be repudiated
Far into a cave to emprison them so the
Umbrella of peaceful camaraderie that
Lent humanity a community of unity.

Accolade and Review for my acrostic poem: FEAR, BREATHE,  THINK,  ACT

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab Superb descriptive and advisory poem, Malak, about dealing with fear, the mind killer. It’s wonderfully clever how you show that each of these approaches to fear are complicated, not at all easy. We try to breathe, we hear our fears in our thumping heartbeats. We try to think, we’re confused by impulses to both flee and fight. We try to act, results are so uncertain, we may feel frozen. Excellent images, poetic form, poignant phrases and use of capitals. You are a true master of alliteration. “Morass of a lack of logic,” ” haloed heartbeats,” and “feasting feverishly” are wonderful! By, Linda Powers O’Dell

FEAR, BREATHE, THINK, ACT

FEAR
Fear: fast heart beats feasting feverishly
Every time fear ramps serotonin quickly,
Amply avid in avoiding pain, fastidious in
Remaining alive to tell the tale of FEAR.
FEAR

BREATHE  …
Barely breathing, the brain astoundingly
Reveals its respiratory ease, by reviewing
Every fear, entering the data, waiting
Another moment for analysis, wading,
Through the morass of a lack of logic,
Hearing only haloed heartbeats, heaving.
Eternally aware of time flowing: BREATHE.
BREATHE ..

THINK …
Through and push through thinking
Halves my reasoning, homing only on survival
Instead of clarity of thought,
Never receiving the memo of
Knowing that ‘fight or flight’ is all in a knot. THINK.
THINK …

ACT …
Actively, arduously permitting action that
Covers slippery seconds of being frozen, while
Time reveals your success, failure, and your missing fervor.
ACT …

Ubiquitous has become the norm, when
Stressing the need for discipline, restraint,

Infinite complications in life that would
Testify that a bit of abstinence would
Yield a life fuller, complete with family, unity, humanity.

TUMUTUOUS

T urbulent times are terrifying as
U ncertainty settles in the bones in a
M ishmash of tumutuous feelings where the
U nreality of the horrific events of amputees,
L ost heads, empty chest cavities, blood
T rickling, soaking the rubble, ground, family
U nrestrained in their grief of inhumane loss
O utnumber those left of the family tree, now most are
U nder the rubble of six feet under. Who’s left to
S upervise the orphans whose trauma’s endless.

Sleepwalking, slumbering, seeming awake,
One task down, confusion how it was done,
Maintaining eyes open, yet, still knocking
Nerves on table corners without waking,
Ambling to the door shopping for groceries,
Marveling at how you got there? Walking,
Bustling around completing your
Unconscious mind’s needs without
Leaving anything behind is astounding,
Impressive survival skills while
Sleepwalking is a
Mandatory need for those with parasomnia.

Pile the perspectives of centuries of philosophies
Humming different tunes in harmony
Interpreting the meaning of life differently
Losing leverage over life when it reduces,
Oversimplifies realities into ideology that’s
Secularly scientific without delving deeper
Omitting hidden truths for
Pushing their story, ideology that
Hinders understanding the larger vision
Yet to be seen when your blinders reveal.
