Accolade and Review for my poem, QUILL

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab What a lovely acrostic, Malak! To address a personified quill is such an intriguing, rhetorical way to address your theme. Piety and self-restraint are being lost to egotism and self-interest. What delights me most is that it is the quill that has failed to prevent this change by underscoring it, by speaking out, and now the poet asks the quill for advice on how to reverse this change. This irony is poignantly clever! Thank you for sharing this superb poem!! By Linda Powers O’Dell

Gold Certificate for my poem, Taking Initiative

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Taking Initiative

The youth of today have proven
Their strength, Fortitude, and given
Up freedom to take a stand against
Oppressors, murders, genocide creators post

Their dominion, ‘victimhood’ on news
That’s twisted to empower their views
Knowing that in this age of tech
Even children have the ability to peck

Into the ocean of lies where grains
Of truths are shiny diamonds that pains
The oppressor’s hold over ignorance
That’s being swept away in a prance

By the creative youths who’ve shared
Their findings unhindered
By the punishment that governments
Hold over them, deportation,  prison, jobless …

Books and my poetry collection

Do you have any collections?

Before digital books, I bought so many books that there are still some I hadn’t read when I had to five them away. As any reader would tell you, books are sacred to readers, and re-reading some is a must. It’s a good thing I kept a few books to tide me over!

As for my poetry collection, it’s my own writing, a way for me to express how the world affects me, and on which levels I wish for change to take place. There are so many issues in society today that need to be addressed today whose consequences will continue to disintegrate values, ethics, and religious beliefs.

Lie To Me

When leaders become violators of human rights

Using their lagging conniving techniques

To manipulate, motivate, and ensorcells

Those who are ignorant or lack intellectual acumens

To lead themselves out of a rut created by our systems

Of economic growth that preside with the material worlds,

We, the people, become their Puppets, thoughtless.

Politicians’ speeches today contain content that uses

Demeaning, derogatory, even vulgar contents

That empower one race or religion over others!

Why, why do we still follow these creatures of dissention?

Why don’t we permit ourselves to be humane and lead to a graduation

Of compassion, empathy, understanding, and humanization

Of our beings? Let us express our beliefs freely,

Without rancor, hate, or division!

Man’s abhorance for what s/he doesn’t acknowledge

As accurate, real, truly verifiable is what is limiting

His progress ethically, for s/he seems to be regressing

Into polytheism and empowering scientific knowledge

Over values that teach humanity not to stay the course

Of being altruistic to their own variety and difference.
