Accolade and Review for my poem,  War

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab Great use of this form, Malak! Your inventory of humanity’s ills is shaped like a great weight bearing down on….Life. Superb how your first word is War which creates a north pole to life’s south. Around these connected extremes a myriad of troubles and suffering spins. Impressive poem!! By Linda Powers O’Dell

#Diamanti

                                 War
                         Terror, murder
                      Flow like oceans
           Struggling to survive mutilation
   Atmosphere of toxins spreading disease,
           Disasters hidden and shared
                     PTSD isn’t just
                      Trauma lived,
                               Life

Certificate of Achievement for my poem,  Fear of Judgement

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Fear of Judgement

I’ve written you so many letters,
Letters that have gathered dust,
Dust in their crammed drawer,
Drawer that holds my secrets, a protector,
Protector against prying eyes,
Eyes whose judgements is impolite,
Impolite, demeaning comments,
Comments that devastate one’s self- esteem,
Esteem you wish to share,
Share its fruitful bliss, yet,
Yet, you fear a negative reaction,
Reaction that leaves you bare,
Bare to vulnerability of being offensive,
Offensive by stating the truth,
Truth that breaks Hearts,
Hearts that need protection,
Protection from those nearest who,
Who with a word demolish what you’ve,
You’ve build with a measly word.

Certificate of Award for my poem,  Blank Page

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Blank Page

What do you do when the page
Is a ghost of unwritten words,
Feelings bottled up and unheards?
Where do you find the courage

To speak up, letting out disillusion,
Frustration turning into a volcano,  hidden
Under a mask of white perfection, forgotten
That it enshrouds your reaction

Perfectly concealing beliefs, feelings
That are a burden, unsharable
For the blank page is a noose, unforgettable
Pressure to perform according to norms followings

Of a spew of remarkable expressions,
A river of lava that turns into fire
All it touches, for its only foe is the dire
Need to express those doubts that bog you in suspicion.

Accolade and Review for my poem,  Home?

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab Excellent use of hypophora, Malak! You use profound questions to focus attention on the nature of home and the uncertainty of the future. Your amazing and touching personal narrative is so poignant and adds great beauty to this poem. Your deep experience justifies your admonition, “Embrace the joy you’re given,/For tomorrow may bring hell or heaven.”  Superb poem!! By Linda Powers O’Dell

Home?

Where is home?
What is home?

These questions circle
Ceaselessly and kindle

The quest for answers for:
Where and what is home for?

I’ve immigrated to three
Continents searching for thee.

Why do you hide from me?
Why do you flee and oblige me

To search you out in lands gone mad?
How is that fair on a child who feels bad?

From the tropics, to the Mediterranean,
To North America, in search of what you mean.

The child in me
Misses the simplicity of love,

Laughter that is innate,
But shaken with wars and fate,

That take away all joy and faith
In a moment of stolen breath.

Embrace the joy you’re given,
For tomorrow may bring hell or heaven.

Certificate Award for my poem, Selfie

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Selfie

Setting up the selfie station:
Lights, cell stand, and her brand,
Typically,  she holds clothing  to unfold
Before it’s framed eternally on her blog.

She twists it this way and that,
Showing all its sides, but
None of hers,
Except, the image she shows.

Behind the smile and frivolity,
Lies a darkness, hidden from sight,
For fear of being judged carelessly
By followers that hold great might.

Anxiety is hers to cradle,
While happiness is to be shared,
And beauty is revered
As long as it’s easily bendable.

What is she trying to prove,
With her blog that’s on the move?
Is her ambition centered around
Follows and likes,  without being bound?

I wonder what holds her prisoner,
In a world where artifice is power,
While, ethics and values take a shower,
And faith is flushed out with dirty water.
