Accolade and Review for my poem,  Changing Light

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab Hello Malak, this poem is a superb portrayal of how oppressive darkness, both literal and figurative, can be. So many obstacles try to defeat our confidence and faith in ourselves, all that we are. Whispers of doubt try to drown out the voice of our positivity. The light of darkness is a blight. However, as you say, the darkness “vainly” tries to drown us. If we change the light cast by our perspectives, our courage and determination will be renewed. Thank you for sharing this powerfully written poem. The images and vocabulary are phenomenal, dramatic and intensely moving! By Linda Powers O’Dell

Thank you Linda,  your inspiring words keep my writing from stagnating.

Changing Light

The oppressive darkness is bogged
With obstacles trying vainly to drown out
Your confidence, faith, substance,  all locked
Under the insidious susurations, waves with clout
To swamp your positivity, and submerge
Your power with darkest blight requiring light to change.

Gold Certificate for my poem,  Reverie

Reverie

Oh
Ye bloom
In fugue
Reverie of
Vellichor world full
Of books of yore, create
Utopia, a fool’s house,
Paradise filled with crazy bee
Whose imagination buzzes like a
Virtuous maiden in a tree of life
Covered in the seasons of change whose vain
sepulcher is nature’s reign that is
Trained Over a Book’s refrain that
Delves in beautiful images
Of graceful rainy grain
Of sand that travels
Around parts of
Beautiful
Parts of
World

The Perfect Politician

Regal, nose up in the air,
Well dressed, in darkened color,
Portraying his evil soul that bore
His progeny and a history of colonial flair,

In which he poses for paintings
Not pictures, wears a ruff
Underlined with piqué lace on neck and cuff,
A velour jacket with extra ruffled sleeves

In a pint to show he has an ancestry
That’s as old as time, while, his beady
Eyes, pointy nose, extra long neck, crow a lively
Tune for a more modern age, where money

…

Is accumulated in his neck,
Will only let him see his long nose, forever
In the throws of making more money to close

The gap between fortunes on the
Elitist echelon of power hungry
Politicians whose small minds carry
Life of thousands in abject poverty who can’t breathe.
