Certificate of Distinction for my poem,  Gentle Core

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Gentle Core

Look, look upon the Azure blue sea
It shines brilliantly of hope for all to see,
No storms, battles, violent death mar
Its crystalline shores with dismantled bodies, far
From blemish free for purity, innocence

That need to flourish in childish
Wonder, grow their curiosity without polish
So their imagination is catapulted
Into the stratosphere of flight, never endangered
For war is a foreign concept without gore

They thrive on challenges galore
That make a humongous score
Into inventions, creations that never bore,
Using them To improve life’s spore
That’s harvested with gentle kindness of the core.

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Mother, Inner Voice

Your mother’s voice echoes
In your mind, always reminding
You of her love, support, never abscomding
When difficulties arise but throws

Her power, a heated, weighted blanket
That smothers away the pain
As though it never happened, a grain
Of annoyance, no more, for she’s a banquet

Of facets that thrive on discontent
For she’s the glue that holds
Your fractured parts within her folds
Of love, bolstering your confident

Side, propelling you into decisions
That keep you moving forward.
Her time, efforts are, at times, unappreciated
For her honesty cuts deeper than a scalpel’s precisions.

Make sure that when the time
Comes, you’re by her side, supporting
Her as she did you, for youth’s trembling
Dissipates into old age and puts her in a frame.

Innocence’s Plight

From BLM to ICE raids
From a home to rubble
From fields of olives to burnt lands
From stealing old olive trees
To destroying homes
From armies helping settlers,
Be oppressive to decimation of properties
From innocence to disillusionment,
From childhood to ancient wisdom
From mobs striving for justice
To being over policed by injustice,
From free speech to changing
The narrative to better suit their storytelling,
A new version of reality, lies
That destroy virtues, moralities,
And decency that an integral part of our humanities.

Smile

A smile of kindness is all it takes to lift a soul
Up from feeling lonely, so smile
At the clerk, complement them
And listen to their reaction, a gem,

As their smile lights their eyes
And opens up a conversation of trivialities
That boost the soul, motivating
Them to simply enjoy the day while the sun’s shining.

It’s those simple acts of kindness
That distinguish our uniqueness
And humanity from those who’ve
Lost their compassion and empathy for love

Of their fellow ‘man’ in humanity.

Courage thy name is life,
Life filled with life altering decisions
Decisions needing mettle, fortitude,
Fortitude to dare what seems impossible,
Impossible for those cowards,
Cowards who prefer their comfort zone,
Zone where habits, schedules limit,
Limit your growth to stagnation leading,
Leading to a prison of your making,
Making your spirit dim till extinguished.

Evil’s Moon

On the night of the wolf moon
The wolves howl to one another,
Communicating their feelings in a leer,
A gross grin that hounds the soul, a goon,

Fierce, a horrific distortion of beauty
As the full moon, its crevices, darken
The night into a fearsome howl that’ll blacken
The depraved souls into coal, crusty

In consistency, flammable, evil,
Evil reigns with its oppressive
Weight, that governs stagnant, progressive
Deterioration into lunacy that coil

Around the heart, squeezes,
Till the suffocating of goodness prevails
Seeking to seize all faith, beliefs,
Throwing them to the wolves, scavenges

In the unholy darkness
To spread depravity, not faith.
