Accolade and Review for my poem,  Why not ‘Wake Up’

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab Excellent reveille by a poem, Malak; it’s high time that we wake up to the suffering and inequality of this world. By repeating your refrain after every line in the first stanza, you create a powerful sense of urgency; you emphasize each travesty in need of redress. In your third stanza you address our consciences directly as you commend being humane empathetic and compassionate. I note your focus on “colonial consumerism,” no argument here, although almost all governments are inclined to exploit the resources owned by others. Justice and equality should indeed be our twin North stars. Superb poem, bravo!! By Linda Powers O’Dell

Thank you for the honor and your hard work

Why Not ‘Wake Up’?

‘Wake Up’,
The world Is in chaos,
‘Wake Up’
The colonizer is a killer,
‘Wake Up’
The losses keep adding up,
‘Wake Up’
The deafening silence is complicit,
‘Wake Up’
You’re made to feel helpless
‘Wake Up’
Your job is to be aware
‘Wake Up’
Your job is to speak out
‘Wake Up’
Your job is to make others aware

‘Wake Up’
‘Wake Up’
‘Wake Up’

Your conscious is knocking,
Let it in, it’ll remind you of being
Humane, empathetic,  compassionate, striving
To ‘Wake Up’ others with you collecting
Them one at a time, uniting, growing,
In voice and power of the many, balancing
The scale of colonial consumerism compacting
Your goals into a materialistic being
Rather than a human feeling
Others’ plight, and appreciating,
With certitude, what you have as striking
In its simplicity and safety, conquering
The world with justice and equality without blubbering.

Wake Up,
Wake Up,
Wake Up.

Accolade for my poem, Regrets Fly

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab
Fantastic poem, Malak! Yes, we should cry out our emotions, our fears and frustrations. (By doing do we learn more about what we’re going through.) Sharing our pains encourages others to do the same.
Excellent turn of focus created by your wordplay on “pyre” and “lyre.” For all our “degrading fears,” there is hope of triumph, a great harmony within awaiting. We only have to listen and sing the angelic tune. I love your use of the musical refrain, very like Shakespeare. Excellent poem!! By Linda Powers O’Dell

Regrets Fly

Flaming fever fires fly,
Fly into the night sky,
Raise your voice and cry.
Fal la la la la la

Cry out your emotion,
Feelings of despair, confusion,
Give them free reign to perception,
Fa la la la la la

Share to teach so others
Express sensations plaguing their powers
Of cheer that ends in tears,
Fa la la la la

Tears of lament whose fire
Burns hotter than the sun’s pyre,
Yet, prevailing over them in great success is a lyre
Fa la la la la

Lyre of angelic tunes create harmony
From within, reveling in the conspiracy
Of triumphing over degrading fears of being followers.
Fa la la la la

Certificate of Appreciation for my poem, Warriors in Sheep Skin

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Warriors in Sheep Skin

Warriors dressed in sheeps’ clothing
Fight, as warriors are wont to fight,
Let your voices rise, Soar like a kite,
Cross oceans of fright, conquering

Hearts with words of peace,
Empathy, compassion for humanity
That has fallen astray, accepting fraticide
As a way of life, unquestioningly

Some follow like the sheep they are,
While others use every medium,
From comedy, literature, criticism,
Painting, sculpting, all in their way fare

And pair their visions of peace
Fighting, unnoticed by many,
But those affected by their kindly
Actions have only gratitude that’ll fleece

Despair into an abyss where peace
Reigns in warrior stance in pride
That freedom fighters are framed in place
By the courts of the people who don’t hide.

Platinum Certificate for my poem, Rebellion Yell

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Rebel Yell

Freedom is not given but taken,
Taken through the drive,
Drive of the oppressed to stay,
Stay the course in their rebellion,
Rebellion that insights thoughts,
Thoughts that revel in rocking,
Rocking the boat of taught habits,
Habits that destroy creativity,
Creativity needs a voice, medium,
Medium to transform its message,
Message that change is coming,
Coming to overthrow the tyrant,
Tyrant who exploits, destroys,
Destroys hopes, imagination,  freedom,
Freedom that ‘comes with great,
Great responsibility’, for its value,
Value lies in one’s ability to soar,
Soar, without hindrance, to reach
Reach the pinnacle of wonder,
Wonder that wanders stealthily,
Stealthily seeping through cracks,
Cracks that mold into a unit,
Unit that’s unbreakable with the help,
Help of imagination’s power,
Power that strives for justice,
Justice that reigns over happiness,
Happiness that cleaves subjugation.

Certificate of Appreciation about accepting Mental Health

Voice

I’ll help you express yourself
Using your voice, a unique view of life,
As your brain is wired very distinctly,
Your perception and attention quickly
Alter course, frame a request, chance
Repercussion for speaking, hence,
Your speech, clearly, portrays your views.

Platinum Certificate, Knight’s Courage

Exert of my poem

Knight’s Courage

Rapunzel, oh, Rapunzel,
Why are you hidden
Away in a tower bell
Too high to climb when bidden?

Oh Rapunzel, sing me
A song to entrance my mind
With your harmonious sounds, bidding me
To unfurl my courage, that’s in a bind, …

Ordinary

How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?

I’m neither beautiful nor ugly. I am considered the shrimp in my family, as they think I’m short! I have shoulder-length hair, almond shaped brown eyes, hooded by my upper lid, a smallish nose that savors food aromas, and pink lips that try to be honest without hurting others.

I believe my character shows in my voice and simple actions of a nurturer. My voice is generally low and calm, unless provoked. I’m very sensitive, which shows in how carefully I choose my words, as I understand their possible negative effects on the person I’m speaking to.

I also wear a hijab, which helps me protect my modesty, keeps me humble, and respectful in the presence of others.
