Accolade and Review for my poem,  Why not ‘Wake Up’

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab Excellent reveille by a poem, Malak; it’s high time that we wake up to the suffering and inequality of this world. By repeating your refrain after every line in the first stanza, you create a powerful sense of urgency; you emphasize each travesty in need of redress. In your third stanza you address our consciences directly as you commend being humane empathetic and compassionate. I note your focus on “colonial consumerism,” no argument here, although almost all governments are inclined to exploit the resources owned by others. Justice and equality should indeed be our twin North stars. Superb poem, bravo!! By Linda Powers O’Dell

Thank you for the honor and your hard work

Why Not ‘Wake Up’?

‘Wake Up’,
The world Is in chaos,
‘Wake Up’
The colonizer is a killer,
‘Wake Up’
The losses keep adding up,
‘Wake Up’
The deafening silence is complicit,
‘Wake Up’
You’re made to feel helpless
‘Wake Up’
Your job is to be aware
‘Wake Up’
Your job is to speak out
‘Wake Up’
Your job is to make others aware

‘Wake Up’
‘Wake Up’
‘Wake Up’

Your conscious is knocking,
Let it in, it’ll remind you of being
Humane, empathetic,  compassionate, striving
To ‘Wake Up’ others with you collecting
Them one at a time, uniting, growing,
In voice and power of the many, balancing
The scale of colonial consumerism compacting
Your goals into a materialistic being
Rather than a human feeling
Others’ plight, and appreciating,
With certitude, what you have as striking
In its simplicity and safety, conquering
The world with justice and equality without blubbering.

Wake Up,
Wake Up,
Wake Up.

Accolade and Review for my poem,  Wondrous Day

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab One day my friend, one day we may finally be all we wish we were… just waiting for the ‘slower’ homo sapiens to catch up my friend…. Excellent poem 🫡🙏👏👏😃👍❤️

By Zac Warden

Wondrous  Day

What a wondrous day!
The snow is falling, piled into rifts,
The ice on the ground crunches,
The wind blows wondrous tunes.

What a wondrous day!
The scorching sun heats my soul
With hope, optimism, a fire that’ll roll
Through me empowering my goal
To stay the wondrous course of life.

What a wondrous day!
I’m alive while others are dead,
Kin, friends, neighbors,  all fled
From the the destruction that bled
Blood into a wondrous river of red.

What a wondrous day!
Injustice, racism, categories are ways
The elite divide society in plays
That promote heinously wondrous frays.

What a wondrous day!
A day for celebration of strength,
Belief, unity, community solidarity taking a breath
Away from stress and languishing in the breadth
Of humanity’s wondrous compassion that’s not death.

Accolade for my poem,  Black Wolf

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Review by Linda Powers O’Dell

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab A wonderful celebration of the wolf’s true nature, Malak. Too often vilified, wolves keep a habitat alive. All animals are innocent, we should honor them in principle. Excellent detailed descriptions and passionate ending!

Black Wolf

Oh ye baronial black wolf
Your golden eyes’ glow fiercely,
Shining a light among the blackest huff
Of dankest hour of the night, stealthily

Preying on his prey in paltry
Moonlight, pupils following, carefully,
Snout sniffing for hidden danger, boastfully,
He lunges on his prey, without mercy,

He kills to assuage his hunger,
That of his pups, pack, no blunder,
No torture, goes directly for the kill, a killer,
No psychopath, no serial killer,

He kills for survival, a part of nature
A force to be reckoned with, pure
Of heart, a defender of family, a purr
Is for happiness, making him more

Humane than a curr.

Accolade for my poem: Festive City

Thank you, administrators,  for the accolade and your hard work.

Festive City

Painted roofs
On a cold day, running like hoofs,
Their brilliant shine,
It’s just fine
Surrounded by pine
Covered in blinking lights
Green, red, blue, whites
That twinkle at nights
Giving rise to hope
For a future where you don’t mope,
Fall into depression
Caused by holiday celebration
That cost a liver, kidney,
That you can’t live without the key
Of life, for cheer revokes
Loneliness, sadness that provokes
Moodiness, violent cakes
Falling apart As you built a life that makes
You proud of your veneer
That never touches ethics that peer
Within, making you stronger
For your life is lighter
As most stress is caused
By gossip’s ear, whose vanity paused
To try and emulate what others had.

Civility

(Accrostic)

Daunting diversity drives
A wedge between humanity, who’s
Under the impression that
Nepotism is a necessity,
That imposes a class and race system
Lacking in compassion, comprehension.
Easily transposing our civilization to a
Secondary one of Omo’s descent
Serving to annihilate our progression.
