Perfect purity is putty, muddy Endlessly being turned into war Anchoring evil doers in thrones of power Carnivorous in their cruelty, heinous Evil activity that needs to be repudiated Far into a cave to emprison them so the Umbrella of peaceful camaraderie that Lent humanity a community of unity.
Malak Kalmoni. Chehab A beautiful poem extolling the wonders of all the seasons! Such delightful details:the many colored petals, the trilling birds and sly worms, the frolicking chicks, the falling leaves. These leaves don’t just die;they feed the forest so that it revives in spring after winter’s dominance. These are all sources of natural wonderment! Superb poem!! Hi Malak, there are several types of zigzag poems. The one I am most familiar with and use quite often indents the lines to form a zigzag pattern. I believe you are using it to mean alternating shorter and longer lines? This is an awesome new form for our list. Thanks for introducing it! By Linda Powers O’Dell

Oh Aphrodite, your white roses Bloom to honor your deity, a groom Of reverence to unwavering gloom That pricked himself and turned them reds.
Yet those peaceful doves bestow Calm innocence facing despair With only thorns as weapons to repair The damage done to the chaos that’ll blow
Up in the faces of those who’ve Forgotten the hymns of gratitude That revel in atonement embued In simple living, where new beginnings have
Been lauded for their vision Of graceful kindness, given, returned, Through the fragile fairness, whose scent attracted Its audience into presiding over confusion
With leadership in radiance, Transparent in its intentions, Gracious in its need for interventions That create connections, reverence

Silver light shines so bright, Reflects on your surface in a fight To blot out the blight Of oppressive night.
As it shimmers on the lake At night, it dances with shadows, fake In their adulation of your stake In everything that’s ensconced in black.
Its silver sheen is reminiscent Of the clouds’ silver lining that bent The impossible to their heaven sent Hope, that relies on faith not being absent.
As the night whispers fly Through the sky’s darkened horizon spy The golden moon strides in a cry Of faith that whispers in corners sly,
Where burgeoning flowers raise Their supplication in the breeze That carries hymns of faith, never a tease Whose gentle fragility will always please.

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab Superb descriptive and advisory poem, Malak, about dealing with fear, the mind killer. It’s wonderfully clever how you show that each of these approaches to fear are complicated, not at all easy. We try to breathe, we hear our fears in our thumping heartbeats. We try to think, we’re confused by impulses to both flee and fight. We try to act, results are so uncertain, we may feel frozen. Excellent images, poetic form, poignant phrases and use of capitals. You are a true master of alliteration. “Morass of a lack of logic,” ” haloed heartbeats,” and “feasting feverishly” are wonderful! By, Linda Powers O’Dell
Thank you for the honor and your hard work
FEAR, BREATHE, THINK, ACT
FEAR Fear: fast heart beats feasting feverishly Every time fear ramps serotonin quickly, Amply avid in avoiding pain, fastidious in Remaining alive to tell the tale of FEAR. FEAR
BREATHE … Barely breathing, the brain astoundingly Reveals its respiratory ease, by reviewing Every fear, entering the data, waiting Another moment for analysis, wading, Through the morass of a lack of logic, Hearing only haloed heartbeats, heaving. Eternally aware of time flowing: BREATHE. BREATHE ..
THINK … Through and push through thinking Halves my reasoning, homing only on survival Instead of clarity of thought, Never receiving the memo of Knowing that ‘fight or flight’ is all in a knot. THINK. THINK …
ACT … Actively, arduously permitting action that Covers slippery seconds of being frozen, while Time reveals your success, failure, and your missing fervor. ACT …

Her thick, wavy red hair flows Around her face, framing a sensuous Mouth, a retroussé nose, glamorous Eyes, never crows but flies as windows
To her innocence and admiration For a world whose good deeds Are hidden like gems flying on steeds Whose wings of change soar in liberation
Of the subjugated whose hopes Had been dashed until they were Perceived through her vision’s core Of gratitude for gifts, treasures helping us copes
With desperation, disillusionment, Dispondency, bereavement for the cheer We possessed in our youth, but won’t hear Of its resurrection because the illusion
Created by world media is of desperation To be who, what you aren’t for integration.

For a child, imagination is a castle Filled with invisible friends in a battle To be the superhero that defends Against injustice and bends
The rules of logic, reality In order to achieve his empty Vision with regulations that fit Into a cloud looking like, a big bit
Of a crane, all white fluffy Clouds, but hunts like an eagle whose cry Pierces the sky with a predatory Call, scaring prey and flushing adversary
Out in the open so go for the kill That’s a firing squad of a pill Calling out for justice in a child’s Mild imaginings, prospering in a field’s
Grassy stretch lingering on harvest, Its beauty, hard work, and failing the test Of nature that can wipe it away In a stray moment that’s a giveaway.
Still the child looks upon the crane, Wishing he were riding on its back, a bane To all oppressors, abusers who dare Hurt anyone as he bares witness with care.

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab Superb double tetractys, Malak, that speaks heartbreaking truth! Those thousands killed in war are an indelible image the mind’s eye cannot refuse to remember. Beginning with one and two is clever, a nod to the double tetractys form and a perfect way to allude to how a devastating war may begin with just a few moves. Also wonderful is your ending in bright light, light that forces us to face the truth of war’s consequences. Excellent poem!! By, Linda Powers O’Dell
Moves …
One, Two wrong Moves started In war that kills Thousands, unspeakable actions paling When faced with consequences, murders hunt Amputees, fight Trauma’s might In bright Light.
