Accolade for my poem,  Lone Leaf Wonderment

Lone Leaf Wonderment

As a lone yellowed leaf, I remain,
Hanging precariously onto the branch,
Looking onto the ground, where my vain
Friends have all fallen while greenish, now, out of reach,

They lay on the fallow earth
Blanketing it with their dried crunch,
As passerby ignore their presence ignoring the cloth
That beautified nature, as they stomp them in a bunch.

Lonely, alone, my tears fall unnoticed
As I try to mourn all I’ve lost:
Friends whose radiance has died,
Family whose love has extinguished and thrust

Me, alone, in an unforgiving world,
Where what once was is easily forgotten,
While all those empty voices rise in a cold
Empty entourage who’s lost compassion and been

Swamped with the material world,
Living in solitary confinement,
On a schedule that bind
More then prison bars in an accoutrement

To integration in a society, powerless
To make a change in their community
As technology and self-isolation progress
Towards being captivated by superficiality

Of surviving rather than living
In faith, hope, their power and force,
Naturally protect believers in believing
In the existence of hope and communal peace.

Certificate of Excellence for my poem,  Hunger to Survive

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.

Hunger to Survive

The lion lays quietly atop an overhanging hill.
He waits, watches in the vain fervor that his prey
Will come to him in deadly night like a diet pill
That will stop his hunger and permit his teeth to stay
Sharp, glistening white, creating a shiver of fear
Of their ferocity and ability to tear apart an arm,
Or important extremities that flash their spear
Of speed trying to outrun the King.

The atmosphere of fear is so authentic
That I can feel the lion’s eyes shifting silently,
Watching guardedly, waiting patiently to pounce happily
On his unsuspecting prey.  His jaws are cave like
In their imposing strength and force of bite.

Never fear the lion, for you know he attacks
To survive, not for pleasure.
Fear those who appear like sheep, but are
More serpent or fox, for their poisons
Attack the soul and destroy lives as if doing you favors.

Accolade for my poem: Life Captured

Thank you,  administrators,  for the accolade and your hard work.

The poem, Life Captured,  is part of my poetry book,  Perfectly Flawed poetry for change.

Life Captured

Looking at life through the aperture of a lens
Narrows your vision to only what it presents,
Everything else is eliminated, erased.
What happens to that backdrop that disappeared?
Is your memory faulty, that it too evaporates it?
Or is your memory vibrant enough to retain it?
Or would you prefer to eradicate it?

There are times in life where having a limited
View of an event can alter its meaning, and
Dissipate its importance into nothing,
For its effect on you, casual at best. Reliving
Them is unremarkable, dispensable, and dreary
Creating unnecessary despair when life is for living.

Other times when a complete view is compulsory
For understanding and acting favorably.
At such times,  no minute detail is unnecessary,
For they all create a holistic picture of the unsavory
Events that play out in movie format,  brilliantly
Vivid in its details, sounds, smells, and actionably.

The scenes are relentless in their motions
As they unveil their worthiness to us
As the aperture of life is just a version
Of all that’s around us, filming, storing,
Even deleting or omitting the undeserving,
Challenging the lies or liars, stating only verity, flying!!!!

Diploma Certificate for my poem: Frozen Footprints

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.

Frozen Footprints

I swing around
My gazes abound
And stall. Frozen on the ground
By the footsteps that are never found.

Each step was an adventure, gone
And never seen, but remembered as one
Whose stature is alone
In memory and stone.

Adoration of all that’s long gone is futile,
For your recall is colored by a grapevine
Of emotions that are supple
And unmanageable.

Let it go!
Move on, throw
Caution to the wind, and blow
Away boundaries that limit your flow!

Certificate of Outstanding for my poem, Sea’s Sunset

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.

Sea’s Sunset

The clouds climb high, like mountains
In the sky, some are smaller and stains
The sky, like a painter, with red, pink, blue,
Orange that coalesce Into a darkened view

Of immeasurable beauty of the setting sun
Burning the sky’s clouds with its breath that’ll run
Over the setting sun with a scenic beauty
Unparalleled by any ‘Man’, for the creator, wisely

Intensifies the pull to nature
So that it increases our faith’s cure
For depression, stress, anxiety
That are alleviated by streaky

Waves that pummel the shore
With a power whose core
Is just three atoms, but their strength
Comes from their unity of breath

That lives for all to enjoy
If only you take the time not to be coy
In appreciation of the majesty that is
All around you, and found within the peaks

Of waves, white foamy appearance,
But feel and taste salty which grace
The sand with an abundance of plentifulness
That eases the pangs of hunger without avarice.

Review of my poem: Life Captured

My poem,  Life Captured,  is reviewed by a highly respected poet, Matt Elmore. He’s a poet, author, and group administrator for the Invisible Poets on Facebook and much more. The prompt is of writing a metonym poem. I’d written this a few years ago during a difficult time in my life. I hope you can identify the metonym:

Life Captured

Looking at life through the aperture of a lens
Narrows your vision to only what it presents,
Everything else is eliminated, erased.
What happens to that backdrop that disappeared?
Is your memory faulty, that it too evaporates it?
Or is your memory vibrant enough to retain it?

My poem, Cathedral Lights,  honored by Invisible Poets

Thank you,  administrators,  for the accolade and your hard work.

Cathedral Lights

As the night covered the sky in a blanket
Of black,  the sudden lights in the tower
Lit up, like a Christmas tree, fit for a fight,
The most important one: Faith, prayer,

And belief in the here after
Whose work takes place in living
A life of discipline, a strength barer
For it gives you power for knowing

When to listen, stay calm, or fight.
Looking upon those brilliant
Lights is a beacon of peace at the height
Of chaos, violence, and war that can’t

Be put out, but that Cathedral,
Its age, architecture, and what it
Stands for: peace, acceptance, a call
To self-respect by realizing that belief built

The Cathedral within with all its
Grandor, elegance, survival, and brilliance
That outshines any building whose parts
Are man-made, while its faith has an innate luminescence.

Diploma Certificate for my poem: Rainbow of Loss

Thank you, administrators,  for the accolade and your hard work.

Rainbow of Loss

As they embrace,
Her head nestled between
shoulder and neck, her face
In repose, as she caresses hair with keen

Fervor that helps settle
Roiling emotions of loss
That swamp the couple
After hearing of their gross

Loss: miscarriage of an awaited
Baby, planned to a tee,
Its trousseau the nursery filled
With colors as plentiful as a rainbow to easily

Locate the bundle of joy
Wherever s/he  may be playing
Mischievously, hiding, in a ploy
To circumvent the possible disciplining

That s/he would have to face
For the mess created by these
Itty bitty innocent hands that race
Across your heartstrings

Even before s/he is born
As hormones intertwine with emotions
Filled with love for a future that’s torn
Away by loss’ depressions.

The rainbow decorating the
Nursery has another goal; bright,
To help the couple find the beauty
Within that’ll help them win the fight.

Review of my poem: Golden Change

I’m flabbergasted by this review of my poem. It inspires me to be more creative and write more thought-provoking poems.

Golden Change

As autumn’s golden beauty glows
Reflecting old times that flows
In the changing seasons and blows
Away nostalgia’s despair with cooling clowns
Whose smiles crush changes placing crowns

Upon fallen heads in piety to Godly
Gifts of senses that change in a timely
Fashion to help navigate a world poorly
Equipped to bend to change, purposefully
Striving to be godly, but time syphons youth’s vigor.
