Diamond Certificate for poetic Excellence for my poem, The Sea

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

The Sea

Colors,  oh Colors of the sea
Dazzle my eyes to see

Your beauty’s blue hues
That impress our views

Of many blues: turquoise blues,
Greenish blue, yellowish browns, in special purviews

Where waves clamor to touch shore
In a uproar of rebellion against the sand floor

That speaks to capture its treasures
By displaying them to humanity’s burrs

As their speech, music, song, laughter
Only receed as the sun explodes in color

In a splendor of yellows, and reds
That blend into sparrows of reeds

Changing in harmony with the depth of
Fear that time ends with this falling night that’s enough.

I sit on wonderment on the seashore
In contemplation to be sure

That life’s bliss rises and falls,
Happiness comes in waves and balls,

While nature of the sea stays true,
Unchanging except for the seasons blue,

So enjoy the joy of the quiet balm breeze with
Compensation for a troden soul lifted to breathe

As Memories sway in the waves to freeze
In a captured picture to rest like bees in trees.

Certificate of Outstanding for my poem,  Beach’s Stroll

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Beach’s Stroll

Hand in hand they stroll along the shore
Sandy footprints dissappear as swiftly
As they’re made, as their hands swing
Freely under the warm daylight, sunny

Ritulant rays caressing the fleeting time
That becomes nothing but memory
Imprinted on her heart, heavy crime
Of loss’ grime, leaving a residue of a ghostly

Chime of forgotten laughter,
Cuddles on scratchy sand that lingers
Longer than loss’ clam, whose wonder
In living without her partners’

Support, that she’s not a fan.
She gazes into the horizon
Waiting for a sign of rejoining the pan
That simmered with their love, not a poison

That could separate their camaraderie,
Understanding both weaknesses
And strengths that made the family
An unbreakable unit whose support suppresses

Stresses and anxieties built
In society to promote division
Of familial bonds so that compassion
Is lost, replaced by materialism and guilt.

Review for my poem,  My Love

My Love

If “Love opens the most impossible gates;” and
“Love is the gate to all the secrets of the universe.”
Then, love is all powerful, eternal, rebellious, never bland,
But compassionate promise In a universe

Filled with dissent, competition, a love of money,
And sin. I give thanks that my love, husband,
Is my rock, my motivator, and one key
To my writing that’s unwavering and always holds my hand.

My love is there for the difficult decisions,
Guidance and friend to our children,
Has sleepless nights when they’re in positions
Of upheaval that require strategic precision.

For me, he is my star in a dark night,
The shoulder I cry into when life’s unbearable
Losses enrobe my heart in darkness, as he helps me fight
The devouring abyss making it acceptable.
As my shadow sits on the bench, alone,
My eyes mist like dew drops covering
The wet grass, as memories flood, gone,
The world has taken this love and kept living.

Diploma Certificate for my poem,  Sunrise

Thank you,  administrators,  for the honor and your hard work.

Sunrise

Every day,  without fail, the sun rises
It shines its intangible Rays, like fingers
Caressing your skin, body and limbs.
Everyone of them ends in special memories,
As each day brings in new events.
Some times, those are sad and lonely,
Others are depressing and gravely
Affect your humor and oddities.
They can take you into a dark abyss
Of despair,  and return with cheers.
Inspire you to believe in one more sunrise,
That lifts you above the murky fogs,
Into clouds, of such pristine whites,
That their glare overpowers,
While your fogged windows, from your breaths
Show your anticipation forwards
To one more unbelievable sunrise,
That becomes your muse for life’s
Unending wonder, transience, and colors.
Rainbows of which come out after the rains,
Reminding those bogged down to rise
Rise to the challenge of beauty and lived lives.

Certificate of Appreciation for my poem: Feast’s Unity

Feast’s Unity

Crave the jubilation of feasting!
Every religious ceremony that binds
lonely souls into a community
even if they are racially, culturally different,
but, all enemity is set aside when celebrating the
revival of humanity’s compassionate understanding.
arrows from Cupid’s bow hits its
target and transforms aggression
into love, friendship, jubilation,
owning that positivity, propagating it, and
never letting pessimism or negativity
spring into the forefront without a care,

And only those ungenerous with their humanity
forgo gatherings that uplift the soul.

jumping into the fray, with all the
overgrown children’s merriment
Yields a time filled with astounding wonder.

Review of my poem: Life Captured

My poem,  Life Captured,  is reviewed by a highly respected poet, Matt Elmore. He’s a poet, author, and group administrator for the Invisible Poets on Facebook and much more. The prompt is of writing a metonym poem. I’d written this a few years ago during a difficult time in my life. I hope you can identify the metonym:

Life Captured

Looking at life through the aperture of a lens
Narrows your vision to only what it presents,
Everything else is eliminated, erased.
What happens to that backdrop that disappeared?
Is your memory faulty, that it too evaporates it?
Or is your memory vibrant enough to retain it?
Or would you prefer to eradicate it?

There are times in life where having a limited
View of an event can alter its meaning, and
Dissipate its importance into nothing,
For its effect on you, casual at best. Reliving
Them is unremarkable, dispensable, and dreary
Creating unnecessary despair when life is for living.

Other times when a complete view is compulsory
For understanding and acting favorably.
At such times,  no minute detail is unnecessary,
For they all create a holistic picture of the unsavory
Events that play out in movie format,  brilliantly
Vivid in its details, sounds, smells, and actionably.

The scenes are relentless in their motions
As they unveil their worthiness to us
As the aperture of life is just a version
Of all that’s around us, filming, storing,
Even deleting or omitting the undeserving,
Challenging the lies or liars, stating only verity, flying!!!!

Wish for Peace

A simple ‘Wish for Peace’, where children play, innocently not wake in fear as they hear a plane pass them by; where families have a right to live together,  where death comes only by accident or age, where the need for justice is stronger than making money, and where prosperity is achievable.  I hope this International Day for Peace brings up REAL PEACE.

Wish for Peace

The fragile beauty of the dandelion
In my hand whose grip on land
Dares you to eradicate its presence in Zion
As it spreads through the wish for peace to lend

A hand to those in need of a blend
Of peace in their days of suffering
Without end.
Wish for peace for them to send

Their children to schools
With filled bellies of fresh food
Sprinkled with life giving water that drools
In honor of a wish for peace that stood

On the doorstep waiting, waiting
Patiently for humanity’s response
To help save those whose beliefs, never straying,
Empowers their wish for peace

For a new generation without
The need to revisit the trauma of today’s
Dire escalations of genocides in a bout
Of cataclysmic fear whose only wish is for peace.

Stuffed grape vine

What’s your favorite recipe?

This very lebanese recipe comes in both a vegetarian and meat variation. I love both, really, but the ones that trigger love, family, and feasting on religious holidays, is the meat version. That one is made with lamb shoulder as a base, with the grape leaves stuffed with rice and ground beef, some top it with stuffed zucchini, but in our home it was just the meat and grape leaves. They are left to Simmer for about 12 hours so that the meat falls off the bones, the leaves become paper thin-easy to digest, and the rice absorbed all the flavors. We’d usually eat it with pita bread, fresh mint leaves, and green onions.

The smell of it cooking throws me back to my childhood, when I first got married, gatherings, and just happy times.
