My poetry is honored again: My Last Five Minutes

My Last Five Minutes

I sit up,
Look up,
Firing my appreciation
To God, in whose contemplation,
Veneration, I’m engrossed
In my thanks to all that
I’ve got, that’s on the spot:
Family to love and cherish,
Kin to pray and think of me as I perish,
Friends who’ll miss my presence,
As our discussions cover matters that hence
Ruminate over social changes
Trending through social media’s
Imposing pressure over all genders
And age groups who’ve surrenders
Their freedom to bondage
Of our sovereignty over our charge:
Our immortal soul, whose barred
From its morality,  replaced
By being led to sins that destroy
Your connection to the all mighty,  a ploy,
To reduce believers that rebel against sins of plurality.

Featured in the online ILA magazine,  poem, Frozen Frame

Thank you, administrators,  for the accolade and your hard work.

Frozen Frame

In a perfect sphere, where, in the snow
Falls in perfect harmony, gathering family
Feasting,  playing, with nothing contrary,
Only fun in the peaceful snowy glow.

The scene is set,
The people prepped,
The table bent,
The  children are a heavenly send.

The frozen frame is icy,
Covered in white powder whose
Calm settles into old bones,
Where memory is alive, but dicey!

For the child, it’s the here and now
That matters, while all else
Is icing on a cake, where the candle will blow,
And family is always best when many are less

And the anticipation of guessing
What’s in the box is filled with laughter
As outrageous ideas are a pleasing
Game that ends chortling giggler.

The frame is never lame,
It set the bar very high for following
Years, as its innocence came
With its childhood’s naive framing.

Certificate of Excellence,  5th place for my poem: Wishes

Wishes

As the countdown to 2024 starts,
My mind takes a long look behind
And wonders what wishes, surprises
Are in store for 2025 that won’t stand
Down to the tests of time.

I wish for a world of peace
I wish for a world without violence,
I wish for justice to prevail,
I wish for family strength and unity,
I wish for a world that’s compassionate and humane,
I wish for honesty to triumph over lies,
I wish that this society’s rules made sense,
I wish, I wish,  I wish…

Wishing for something and achieving
Your goal are separate indeed, as
Working hard drives you to attaining
Your objective,  while just wishing for it to lands
In your lap will never happen!

Accolade for my poem,  Fall Sunset

Fall Sunset

The flaming sun burnishes the sky
With reds and oranges
Spilling over tree tops
Like  a flame of life; let go and Fly!

Fly like the falling leaf strewn
Into an adventure to adorn
The grounds with its fragility
Rejuvenation and transiency.

As I walk in the fall streets
Littered with crunchy leaves,
Their stories resound in steps
As their strength comes back in springs

Relating of their journey
Into the soil, hibernating as a key
To Invigorate the ground with nutrients
That’ll help rekindle their growth into beauties.

New year, new Certificate of Appreciation, for my acrostic poem: SECULARISM

Thank you, administrators,  for the honor and your hard work you helped start my year on the right footing!

SECULARISM

Severing the connection between religion’s
Endavor to dictate the rules for society has
Cut believers from implementing parts of their
Undeniable ties to GOD, as within them there’s a
Lawful balance between social, self, career,
And world that defines rights of each on a
Reality that is holistic and all encompassing,
Intensifying the need to think beyond the
Self, its needs, and elevate the needs of the
Many through rules that satisfy the many.

Certificate of Appreciation for my poem,  Birth of Jesus

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.

Birth of Jesus

Mary had her contractions,
Under the palm tree’s shade
Where she wished for death’s havens
To take away her struggles.
She hears a voice, deep, as though
Coming from beneath
Telling her not to worry, her breath
Will give birth
To a prophet, Issa, Jesus,
Whose conception, miraculous,
Was thought adulterous,
But, he, Issa, spoke
A suckling babe,
Another miracle,
Telling believers to believe
In GOD and His word,
Bible, Quoran, Tora, to change the world
Into one that’s compassionate,
Forgiving, loving, giving, never late
In listening, understanding that fate
Is for the living to ensure
That it’s done through His
Teachings, forsaking sins
That blacken the soul, hearts
That need light to shine bright.

Certificate of Excellence for my poem, international writer day

Thank you, administrators, for the honor and your hard work.

International Writer’s Day
Acrostic

Internet has facilitated global connections
Never stop the growth of  wrIters
That rend their hearts as    theIr words flow
Empowering the weak to
Remember their worth
Never succumbing to oppression’s
Timely propagation that    cleAves
Intimate family                   meMbers into
Open enemity, clearly ‘Dividing & Conquering’
Needlessly aggressive, destructive,
Avid in mercilessly taking resources And
Leaving nothing to the Indigenous peoples.

Write, revel, rebel, roast, rumble the gruesome
Reality of a world built on Materialism
Instead of unity of humanity       peeP
That lends compassion and     succOr that
Eventually works together against thE oppressor
Ruining the ecology,                 separaTing family,
Solidifying Darwin’s rules of supremacy

Dealing in strength that overpowers others
Amid illegal, inhumane practices that have
Yet to be punished.

Certificate of Appreciation for my poem in

Thank you, administrators,  for the honor and your hard work.

What makes a relationship succeed?
It takes four things: Listening and
Understanding the other’s feelings,
Patience for processing and communicating
Your logic, thinking process
And compromise on both sides.

Certificate of Appreciation,  3rd place, for my poem: Feast’s Unity

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.

Feast’s Unity

Crave the jubilation of feasting!
Every religious ceremony that binds
lonely souls into a community
even if they are racially, culturally different,
but, all enemity is set aside when celebrating the
revival of humanity’s compassionate understanding.
arrows from Cupid’s bow hits its
target and transforms aggression
into love, friendship, jubilation,
owning that positivity, propagating it, and
never letting pessimism or negativity
spring into the forefront without a care,

And only those ungenerous with their humanity
forgo gatherings that uplift the soul.

jumping into the fray, with all the
overgrown children’s merriment
Yields a time filled with astounding wonder.
