My sincere appreciation for the honor bestowed on my writing.  Thank you administrators.

Hallowed Dialogue

The lion whisperer bends gently
Towards the enormous lion
Caressing his whiskers, quietly,
Softly moving slowly in a run on

Calm strokes as he murmurs
In a singsong voice, base
Undertones that grasp the lion’s roars
Incorporating them into a sotto pause

Honoring their Creator, believing
In a melding of minds that’s kind.

As they revere GOD’S gifts
They share a hallowed discussion
Of the importance that lifts
Their souls together into heaven’s transformation.

Verses of Soul present my poem: Lonely Bench,  with this certificate

Thank you, administrators, for the honor and your hard work.

Lonely Bench

As the empty, lonely bench
Stands alone in the park’s empty lane
That was filled with pattering feet, clench
Their hands together, riding, running, fain

The need to socialize, expanding
Energy, that seems boundless,
Enjoying the freedom of summer, fleeting,
As those moments become heartless

Dissipating into the waiting emptiness
Of autumn’s fiery colors blessedly
Oblivious that summer’s cheer
Has receded into the sky’s grey, charcoaly

Horizon, never to return the same
But better, if one appreciates their
Significance: nature’s hibernation came
With a time in spring, rejuvenation’s care

That dares to bloom again,
From a seeming emptiness that’ll
Gain depth, strength,  beauty that’ll train
The eye into its wondrous refrain.

Quiet

What do you listen to while you work?

When I’m in the zone working, I enjoy quiet solitude in order to promote concentration and better writing. When too much background noise is around me, I tend to feel overwhelmed by it, creating a faster heartbeat that can be exhausting.

So, a quiet environment is ideal, but I can be hyperfocused enough to tune out ‘white noise’ in order to achieve my objective.

If I’m doing something manually, exercise, cooking, baking, I enjoy listening to the recitation of the Quraan, as it has a musicality that pumps me with happy endorphins, envigorates my mind, and empowers me with Knowledge and understanding. 😊

Silent Chaos

Reading ‘Silent Chaos’, a poem from my poetry book, Perfectly Flawed.
It’s about one’s ability to forget the world is there and focus on your inner-self’s need to be in a quiet place where your imagination can flow and bloom.

Addiction

I’m an addict

And I know it!

I revere two of the three Cs:

Coffee, candy, and cigarettes.

I love my coffee alone with my contemplation

Of life, likes, posts, news, like a great commotion,

Flitting from one to the next trying to see

What’s best before I rest to be free.

Posts galore and replies of mine

Make my day, as the taste of Coffee

Feels like a sinful pleasure.

With my dark drink, I bite into chocolate,

And drift into a coma at heaven’s gate.

I savor the sweetness along the strength

Of body of the coffee and it’s bitterness.

Life with the morning rituals

Cake, candy, chocolate, coffee and sweets

Is like life without a hero like Ferrero,

Or Cadbury, Mars, KitKat, and Aero!

Raising the bar in a day filled

With noise, poised to litter the mind

With fear, worry, and being drear!

So my habitual start is set in stone:

Coffee, contemplation, quiet that have

A lead to social media, news, where I refuse

To succumb to its dadarkness

That needs to twist your morning addictions

Into a depressive, foggy darkness.

Let your coffee’s wisdom fill

Your empty cup with hope that will

Reject to solidify into despair,

But reaches in your depths to repair.
