Betrayal (exert)
Of my country and of my family I have little to say, except that funny Interactions are not always sunny …
A country’s politics and sense of justice Can disappoint. Its favor is sandy grace That’s gritty, scratchy, and hurts in place Of unity that proves our solidarity in face
Of torment, terror, injustice, that train Citizens in complacency that will rain Upon them death, disillusionment that fain A reality that exists in dreams that are slain.
If “Love opens the most impossible gates;” and “Love is the gate to all the secrets of the universe.” Then, love is all powerful, eternal, rebellious, never bland, But compassionate, understanding In a universe
Filled with dissent, competition, a love of money, And sin. I give thanks that my love, husband, Is my rock, my motivator, and one key To my writing that’s unwavering and always holds my hand.
My love is there for the difficult decisions, Guidance and friend to our children, Has sleepless nights when they’re in positions Of upheaval that require strategic precision.
For me, he is star in a dark night, The shoulder I cry into when life’s unbearable Losses enrobe my heart in darkness, as he helps me fight The devouring abyss making it acceptable.
As I embrace the quiet night, I let the calm moon flutter through my thought: Plans, schedules, frivolity, wonder That wanders in the quagmire Of broken dreams that I will My fortitude to take note and grill The negativity, charred into dust Of solitude that is a necessary gust.
This quote from women supporting women is a modern business model to be followed with honesty, if and only if you believe it to be true; and I do. When you smile in the face of adversity while surrounded by those with frowns and aggression, you show the epitome of someone in control, logical, and can make decisions at the hardest times. Your smile, to me, introduces your personality, which shows the world a facet of who you are: positive, optimistic, problem solver, and cognitive thinker. At the same time, your smile puts people at ease, makes them react more calmly, smile back, think positively instead of with anger, and always makes the other feel better.
So, SMILE, and don’t let anyone convince you that smiling is for the ignorant. No, it’s a tool, wielded correctly in this social quagmire we live in, and will always have a positive outcome.
‘Smile and life will smile back at you,’ is an Arabic saying that is cognizant of Karma. In my opinion, it summarizes the above quotation in simpler terms.
Exert from, ‘Belief’s Immortality ‘, my poetry book, Perfectly Flawed
“… there’s toughness, impregnability, optimism, That resonate and endure your ability to smile When the world within and out are depraved, Depressing, and contrive to oust your faith’s vigor.”
