Dominian of Life

The journey of life encompasses extreme emotions

From depression, to betrayal, to exhiliration.

Starting from worst to best in order to end on a positive note

We begin at the lowest times filled with darkness:

An abyss of desolateness that propels you into a whole

Whirlpool that sucks you into a vortex of helplessness.

Don’t succomb to it!

Shout out your power and suppress anything that depresses it!

Betrayal is next, it’s the real-estate of a state of extreme

Emotions overpowering your selfworth and take

You into a sepulcher of pain trying to negate Its influence.

Accept it, face it, then leave it in a chest,

Locked, chained, and sealed with the hardiest

Of mannacles that are intangible, but bind none the less!

Your exhiliration comes with success in overcoming failure,

Cheer in the face of animosity, changes that come before

You are ready, but there regardless.

Facing the challenges of change can be charmless,

Or it could be an exultation so overpowering it renders

Your fear into miniscule object that has a suppressor.

Let life’s challenges be what strengthens who you are,

Let it assert its dominion over those ‘Nay Sayer’,

Never succumbing into the blackwhole of despair.

Let your faith in yourself be your real-estate rather than a betrayer.

Illusion of Trust

Illusion of Trust I’m Glutton for punishment

I’ve trusted before, and there was such disappointment.

I will trust again and recall its simplicity,

Knowing its extreme complexity,

And the consequences of another violation:

Distress, disillusionment, broken, not bones

Rather the serene heart, naive and doting,

That tries to compensate for the disconsolating

Desire to reject the atrocities visited upon me

Playing the role of one who accepts, but the wound

Festers, thrives in hate rather than acceptance,

Decimating your certitude in yourself and your mask.

The disguise you wear to play a variety of roles

That society imposes, from child, to friend,

To colleague, to competitor, to family, to enemy.

Few, so few, actually know and accept you,

That there are times when you feel that your life is a play.

A Shakesperean tragedy that ends with heartache.

What then, I ask? Trust, shattered!

What is annihilated in seconds, minutes, hours,

Takes years to rebuild, cement, and strengthen.

Never lose hope in trusting others,

For then they win the fray, leaving you fragmented.

Show them, through your play, that hope is endless,

Trust is for the courageous,

Optimism is for those willing to put in a fight,

And faith in yourself constructs your theater

In which your own rules fly!
