Featured on ILA Magazine visual art/ poetry feature, poem: Zippered Blood Red Lips

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Zippered Blood Red Lips

Free Speech, what a peach,
Red on one side, filled with blood,
Orange is getting ready to spill it on the beach,
Yellow glows to an attractive bond

Luring you in to speak and spill
Your life’s golden opinions
Only to be torn apart and grill
Your blue blood on a spit of confirmations

That your ideologies conform
Without opposition to ICE¹,
Or politically connected storm
Of people who can turn, in a thrice,

The ability to protest against
An imposed narrative that demands
People’s acceptance of it being a test
Of vindicating themselves for atrocities

Done in the name of ‘Being
GOD’S chosen people’ while
Everyone else’s opinion, crossing
Theirs is automatically treated vile

As a treacherous snake attacking
From any hidden point to use
Suprise as a ruse to killing
More and more babes, women, whose

Children, brothers, sisters, sires,
Have been decimated in honor
Of keeping Free Speech as peaches
That have red lips zipped in golden color.

‘A cage, no matter how beautiful,
Is still a cage’, and red lipped lips
Shiny in blood red rouge is blissful
In the knowledge that Free Speech becomes corpses.

Diploma for my poem, Dangling Moon

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Dangling Moon

Sitting on the tip of the crescent moon
Dangling my legs, pushing off, swinging
As though the moon embraced me in a cocoon
Of life’s laughter, lighter than lightning,

Brighter than the stars’ brilliance,
A comforter of the soul closer
To heaven’s doors, seating, no coincidence
That the moon hovers, never a loser,

But changes everyday in looks
From crescent to full moon,
Each highlights its own beautiful hooks
That enliven hope like a boon,

A boon from GOD to humanity,
A circle of dazzling blessings
Enrobing my imagination’s memory, flowy
Possibilities into dreams, not guessings,

No certainty that the light of poetry shines
To guide my plight into a roadmap
Of strength built on patience, never fines
Me more than I can conquer in a lap.

As I swing on memories that mirror
My plight of losses that that flow
Like the changes in the moon, a bower
For rest as I swing on the crescent’s glow.

Award of Appreciation for my poem, Joy’s Ingenuity

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Joy’s Ingenuity

What’s creation if not joy?
Joy bundled in a swath of cotton,
Cotton, silky soft on delicate skin,
Skin of a babe just born,
Born out of joy, passion, love,
Love creates infinite possibilities,
Possibilities that’re positive habits,
Habits that build on cheer’s ploy,
Ploy that humbles man Whose ingenuity,
Ingenuity builds the impossible,
Impossible is always possible,
Possible when joy and creation are linked,
Linked at the hip for best results,
Results that blindside you with their power,
Power that’s breathtaking in nature.

Diploma for my poem, Give and Steal

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Give and Steal

With one hand they give out arms
To propagate war, a war that divides
Brothers, using the old, we’ll proven
Adage of ‘Divide and Conquer’, unbidden

The conqueror strives to reduce
The power of the people through the curse
Of avarice and the need to wield
Dominion  over others in an open field

Where, whe the warring parties
Are busy murdering each other, their advocators
Pillage Africa, South Asia and America, all resources
Are tied up under their rule, while others dies:

Their wealth increases exponentially,
Their lies and division become award worthy,
For they manipulate facts to their advantage, cruelty
Being their aim for it’s their weapon that’s entirely

Too effective in keeping people in line
When they wish only for freedom, not grime,
Using resources to empower the country
Not the conqueror, manipulator,  who’ll destroy

Without conscience, compassion,
Humanity,  for the longer they play the game
The greater the death toll, division
That increases the gap that need a bridge and time

To overcome the differences instilled
By an aggressor whose purpose is power.

Diploma for my poem, Sunrise’s Qualm

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Sunrise’s Qualm

As the sun rises, illuminating the fields
With a golden hue, I open my window
To bare witness, in silence, to the brew that leads
To hopes clinging to harvests that blow

Your senses with their generosity:
In beauty that’s uplifting,
In harvests that keep hunger at bay by
Providing healthy nutrition while quieting

The doubts from within, whose heads
Try to rise above the sun, yet it steals
Its effectiveness delivering leads
Whose purpose is to uplift you from reels

Of horror that embue despair
Without a care for frailty, disrepair’s
Power travels within susuration’s flair
That are seemingly quiet, but bares

Your soul to mistrust your power
For the buzzing of disrespect
Causes pain in every aspect that’ll glower
At the rest to subdue your rebel’s act

As to have a stake in controlling
Your actions that protect humanity,
It’s lands to stave famine, opposing
The status quo is to rise to the top with quiet unity.

Award of Excellence for my poem, Puissance of Power

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Puissance of Power

Courage to fly beyond your abilities
Takes you farther than when you’re
Restricted into the confines of strategies
That work only within the limits that are

The core of your strengths, believing
That’s all you can accomplish
Will invariably render your power into muting
Its progression into achieving the lavish

Impossibility of the strictures
You’ve established as your growth
Is stunted by the bars of your own raptures
That you’ve chained into a caged breath

That only takes you no farther
Than the nose, tangible, in sight
And touch, but believing in the freedom, power
Of inner puissance that’s untapped unless you fight.

Certificate of Excellence for my poem, Sunset Shoreline

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Sunset Shoreline

Many warm, sunny days live
Live, happily in my memory bright,
Bright In the caressing rays of sunset,
Sunset as I ran with my GSD along,
Along the shoreline playing tag,
Tag each other and wrestle,
Wrestle in the wet sand,
Sand whose tiny molecules hide,
Hide everywhere in discomfort,  memory,
Memory of laughs, games,
Games that keep me on my toes,
Toes that leave footprints,
Footprints in the sand , erased,
Erased with the waves kissing,
Kissing the sand gently cradling,
Cradling its billions of grains,
Grains of sand shining in the dying,
Dying light as memory turns dark,
Dark with the night filled with lustrous,
Lustrous lucent quality,  wondrous,
Wondrous to gaze at its resplendent,
Resplendent glory that lives like a star,
Star in your memory bank, always sublime.

Award of Appreciation for my poem, Nepotism’s Destruction

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Nepotism’s Destruction

The poisoned apple can snuff a life
Without a qualm, either slowly or fast,
It still kills without remorse, as strife,
Stress, and negativity are all a test

To be overcome or death is not rest,
It creates gossip’s unrest in negativity,
Whose a pest greater than any disease that’ll crest
And fall as nature accommodates its biology

To fight Its contagion. Yet, it’s still
Easily deposed if positivity takes hold,
Rises to the fore, a brilliant grace of will
That’s unincumbered by all that’s depressed

Into a well of darkness that’s hell
When faith, Belief, and optimism
Are the test that help you ring the bell
That destoys negativity’s Nepotism.

Certificate of Notable Submission for my poem, Untitled

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Look into the mirror of a possible future
Where poverty is NONEXISTENT, and endless
Prospects for change and advancements race
Through imaginations running wild for a cure
To end poverty, sickness by becoming a doctor
Who heals not only the body but souls to the core.

Review and accolade for my poem, My Love

Every time I receive a review,  I feel like a lottery winner. It’s empowering and highly  inspiring.  Thank you, guys, for your comments.

My Love

If “Love opens the most impossible gates;” and
“Love is the gate to all the secrets of the universe.”
Then, love is all powerful, eternal, rebellious, never bland,
But compassionate promise In a universe

Filled with dissent, competition, a love of money,
And sin. I give thanks that my love, husband,
Is my rock, my motivator, and one key
To my writing that’s unwavering and always holds my hand.

My love is there for the difficult decisions,
Guidance and friend to our children,
Has sleepless nights when they’re in positions
Of upheaval that require strategic precision.

For me, he is my star in a dark night,
The shoulder I cry into when life’s unbearable
Losses enrobe my heart in darkness, as he helps me fight
The devouring abyss making it acceptable.
As my shadow sits on the bench, alone,
My eyes mist like dew drops covering
The wet grass, as memories flood, gone,
The world has taken this love and kept living.
