Deadly deceivers revel in delusions of self Empowerment whose grandeur Leaves the other feeling lesser Undeniably their power springs from Saturating the media with a narrative Inculcating their goals of superiority, Only, they actually strip themselves of honesty Never favoring justice or equality, Deadly delusion.

Malak Kalmoni. Chehab What a magnificent, brilliant heroine! Building her community through the strengths of her empathy and integrity, she overcomes the forces of death. She empowers others with her hunger for equality and her devotion to ethics. I love how you feature her hunger for equality, this is the foundation for truly encompassing empathy. This poem is beautifully written, Malak; you’ve created a wonderful poetic form with superb rhymes and flowing rhythm. Your compelling images and organized thoughts sweep the reader along in a most wonderful way. Brava!! By Linda Powers O’Dell
Angel Wings
Her acorn blondish hair frames Her blue eyed eyes, piercing In their gaze, all seeing As her grey wings flutter in rhymes
Whose utter grace have underlying Silver rays that brighten, coalesce Atop her heart in blissful radiance Shining like a star, brilliant in showcasing
Her inner heart filled with humanity, A hunger for equality that stalls When faced with impunity that crawls Inconspicuously, stealthily, stealing
Her ethics, yet, she prevails Using her empathy, strength Of will to overcome the killing breath Of death from peers who quails
From her integrity’s effervescence She builds her community Of supports, like minded dwellers, impossibly Impoverished by their beliefs’ conscience
They empower others and selves To push forward against trends.

Wars have always been about expansion, Glorifying the ‘self’, stealing resources, Empowering through the subjugation Of the ‘other’ by binary opposition that courses Through blood, and ‘elevates’ their superiority to deity.
From the Silk Road, to the Spice Road, To the Swez Canal, White Sea, Ben Gurion, All show the need for exclusivity for the broad Perception of ‘Civilizing’. What a crock gone Down the clock into eternal sleep. Happy.
For each critical endeavor, conquest, Women rally the people, organize, Fight, rebel, strive to keep morale, at best, Alive within the hearts of people to strategize Survival and the compulsion to resist oppression.
As the flowers bloom, so does the woman’s Need to resist being lumped in a category That she knows she doesn’t belongs To, but rather asserts her judicial equality In a society that’s still a patriarchy.

As you age, wisdom flits in moments, Unexpected as they happen quietly, Without fanfare, they turn disappointments, Successes into an arduous world where honesty
Equality, and values of empathy Have flown the coop and landed on depravity, Turning goodness to a selfish policy That rots humanity from within, And honestly
Watching the evaporating humanity Within drives a sword into our hope for the future Of society that’s sold its soul carelessly To the highest bidder for avarice is a prayer
That never lets up, while the joy Of Community’s standing together Has rusted shut the chains of hope in a ploy To resuscitate ethics’ splendor.
This disillusionment makes me wish For death earlier so as not To watch Decadence become their sole purpose, a brush And it’s a contagion that sucks the soul into a hatch.

Equality, equilibrium, equivalent, all Quiver needing balance under the Umbrella of justice, missing today, Instead, we’ve got inequality where Lean youths are arrested for wearing Inked flags, demonstrating their humanity Baring their souls for all to see their being Riled by a lack of equilibrium, where rights are Impaled by authorities to empower the Undisclosed truth that money rules, while Majesty of honesty, equilibrium, and justice fall.

The fragile beauty of the dandelion In my hand whose grip on land Dares you to eradicate its presence in Zion As it spreads through the wish for peace to lend
A hand to those in need of a blend Of peace in their days of suffering Without end. Wish for peace for them to send
Their children to schools With filled bellies of fresh food Sprinkled with life giving water that drools In honor of a wish for peace that stood
On the doorstep waiting, waiting Patiently for humanity’s response To help save those whose beliefs, never straying, Empowers their wish for peace
For a new generation without The need to revisit the trauma of today’s Dire escalations of genocides in a bout Of cataclysmic fear whose only wish is for peace.
