Diploma Certificate for my poem: Weddingdress

Thank you, administrators, for the honor and your hard work.

Weddingdress

In a crowd, he’s become her anchor
In a life where anchorage has no harbor,
A refuge after an exhausting day,
She needs her home’s solitude to pray

That loss will be a long way away,
That the ecstasy felt as her weddingdress would flay
In the breeze, sending shivers that play
On her skin, a symphony of beauty that’ll flay

Any difficulties into crumbs, unconsequential
In its ability to destroy the partial
Power of love and faith that are palatial
In overcoming Insurmountable obstacles essential

To the development of morale, ethics,
Which solidify the anchor and home’s
Unity whose dock is the hearts
Divesting their impurities to be combined as ones.

Certificate Diploma for my poem:

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.  It is highly appreciated.

Love’s Tune

Oh ye longing for life’s love
Hoping that holding hands
Heralds peace’s heavenly heaving hearts
Warming away the ice, waylaying the dove

Whose mighty hope in a world
That throws tantrums if the heart
Falls for its soul mate, whose burst
Of lava of emotions is a refrain that hold

A symphony of their making,
Dancing, singing to its tune,
At times frisky, bluesy, romantic, straining
To hear what’s unheard, love in a dune

That breezes alter and never
Croon in rhythm of trends that bloom
In antithesis to love’s truer
Form that never lets down the groom.

Two of my poems: Upheaval, Never Give Up,  are published in this wonderful anthology.

Upheaval

Coup d’état! Civil Unrest!
Rebellion against a colonizer, a pest,

Businesses men, family men
Gathering together are arrested, put in a pen,

No pillow, blanket, toilet, only a feast …

… , ethics strive
To cause trouble in the hive

That western society creates
For immigrants needing a place to forgets,

As trauma continues its hold, bold
In its fight to take root, but I won’t, under it, fold.

Never Give Up

Give up, never!
The challenges of life give greater
Satisfaction when struggling to overcome them.

Give up, never!
Through war planes, attacker
On our land, as my partner is an army officer. …

And belief that you’re being tested makes me stronger.

Give up, never!
Give up, never!
Give up, never!

Never give up

What’s your favorite thing about yourself?

I’m tenacious about things I believe in. Plus, if I know I’m capable of achieving a goal, I work hard, even if it means I fail several times before attaining my objective. Case in point, my writing!

The Reel

One, one, twenty one, a new day starting a new

Chapter in your life.

There is a need at times to wish for a new

Beginning, erasing all that came before.

While your mind slips from one memory to another,

Like a movie reel replaying moments of laughter,

Difficulty, obstacles, challenges, even despair.

Are you watching a comedy, drama, suspense, or horror?

Interestingly, they all coexist in the life that we live.

Life is more dramatic, comedic, intriguing, and satisfying

Than any movie or book you’ve watched or were reading.

It raises so many questions of existence, faith,

Identity, even belief in God, whose reasons for our trials

Are His alone. We, as people, turn those obstacles

Into evil and something to be feared.

While the reality is that those challenges are our ‘tests’

On earth, where we are judged by how we react to all our problems,

And not for the existence of the complication itself.
