Lie To Me
When leaders become violators of human rights
Using their lagging conniving techniques
To manipulate, motivate, and ensorcells
Those who are ignorant or lack intellectual acumens
To lead themselves out of a rut created by our systems
Of economic growth that preside with the material worlds,
We, the people, become their Puppets, thoughtless.
Politicians’ speeches today contain content that uses
Demeaning, derogatory, even vulgar contents
That empower one race or religion over others!
Why, why do we still follow these creatures of dissention?
Why don’t we permit ourselves to be humane and lead to a graduation
Of compassion, empathy, understanding, and humanization
Of our beings? Let us express our beliefs freely,
Without rancor, hate, or division!
Man’s abhorance for what s/he doesn’t acknowledge
As accurate, real, truly verifiable is what is limiting
His progress ethically, for s/he seems to be regressing
Into polytheism and empowering scientific knowledge
Over values that teach humanity not to stay the course
Of being altruistic to their own variety and difference.
Making a Wish
Wishing upon a star trying not to fly too far,
Throwing a penny in a well as someone fell,
Wishing on the first full moon trying not to swoon,
Wishing on the turkey’s wish bone trying not to choke,
Catching a falling leaf and wishing on its fall,
Wishing on the eyelash stuck on your scarred face.
So many ways to make a wish, yet none
Imply the necessity for hard work or condone
The wonder and satisfaction that comes from
Being diligent, industrious, and creative proving that none
Can surpass humanity’s ingenuity wherever they come from.
Luck?
Today, the world is a global village, where
Knowledge and friends are at your fingertips, there
Or across the ocean, continent, country, even street
You never know where your next lucky charm will pop up at.
Buck, f–k, junk, luck, tuck, truck, stuck, struck,
All revert to luck as they all stick together in a funk.
I love all these good luck charms that drive in an infinite
Figure eight to send some more luck your way, even if late.
From billions and millions of people around the world
To the individual’s solitary existence, to eco systems
To the tiniest ant, even tinier, that make the systems
Work simultaneously, and depend on each other hard.
It’s a lesson to learn, that ‘no man’s an island ‘,
And neither can nature nor man live separately
Nor can either live without the strength of belief, strongly
Ensuring ALL’s survival for their dependence is the law not the exception.
Soul’s Individuality
“Find out who you are. And do it on purpose.”
Says Dolly Parton as she describes the need for identity.
Do you know who you are?
Do you wait for a magazine, a model, and trends
To validate your existence to others?
Are you being led, like a lamb, to the slaughter
For you are a follower not an instigator or leader?
If asked to jump, will you? Why or why not?
Identify what characteristics make you unique.
Embrace them, strengthen them, stand for them
Even if it’s late, you’ve already many mistakes made.
Grasp your said ‘weaknesses’ and turn them into
Fortresses, pillars of power to wage a war though
You know the result: You are the Victor!
“Why?”, you ask! Simply put, your perseverance,
Fortitude, and belief that your faith and ethics,
Your hope in being a power to be reckoned with
Will pull you through all obstacles that try to demean you.
Fight, don’t back down, don’t let your color define you,
Your gender, your social class, your blood kin, though
You must break the bonds imposed on you
By standing for your faith, uniqueness, and belief
In the God that empowers and supports you!
Women’s Day
To all women who feel unappreciated, DON’T!!!!
Be sure to realize that you are you!
You are powerful on your own or surrounded by others.
You are the leaders, teachers, and nurtures of every generation.
Stay strong in your abilities, capabilities, and love.
Ring Around the Posy
A lone posy sits up in a bone filled garden,
Its petals bright and soft defy the cold. Unbidden,
Its leaves and burgeoning tips reach into the sky,
Savoring the sun’s rays, helping its growth.
Posy buds gather around their leaves,
Waiting for the rain to feed their roots
In order to turn into a bouquet of nosegrays,
That symbolizes love, honor, prosperities
In China, but shame in Victorian England.
Still the queen has made posy bouquets a trend,
Now weddings advertise them to blend,
Fuse the various items together, while they stand
Out looking somewhere between a rose and tulip,
Regal in its stance in the bouquet or lawn.
In the park or garden, bones stick out, they fawn
Over the brittle, broken, dirty white pieces.
The opposition of life and deaths
Where the stark white of animal and human
Bones litter the ground, unseen;
Versus the beauty, color, and softness
Of the vibrantly colored petals raised in
Supplication and gratitude for such beauties.
Stunning those observing into believing
That God created such wondrous beings!
Lover, Hater?
I looked upon the sleeping angel whose sparsely
Covered head in tufts of flyaway hair, place her
Thumb in her mouth, curl her index in her fine hair,
As she lays curled up around her bunny.
The bunny wasn’t as soft or as sly as she,
But he got around and needed just five minutes
Of rest before the ‘devil’ woke up and sang hymns
As she ran circles around him with great care.
Watching the merry go round of the joy and play,
The cheery laughter that I want to last another
FIVE minutes, as time lapses exponentially,
And we are never ready to see them grow, ever.
They grow slowly, then life changes and imposes
Its disillusionment and disappointments
That are an inevitable result of interactions,
Familial, social, peers, and business.
I wish that infant would stay innocent for longer
Not needing to face oppression, recrimination,
Racism, nor dicrimination which implode into a hater
Rather than a lover who accepts the other in compassion.
Cardinal’s Passion
What’s spring if not a rebirth of life, beauty, and passion?
The last as red as a cardinals’ feathers, fly
Into your heart, home, and nook with preservation
Of your unique humanity looking kingly
As you let your heart soar in the revelation
That life, flowers, trees, and shrubs all beautiful,
All colorful just like a spring sun that shines fitfully.
