The river is an allegory for life It is at times smooth as glass, Clear as a bell, strong enough to sand rocks Into the smoothest silky textures. It’s teamed with life, as different species Live and let live, while others, more dangerous, Hunt, dessimate, and devour their preys.
It isn’t enough to see that rivers allegate To all that is portrayed in life, Rather one needs to be aware that cycles In nature are imitations of human life.
The strong prey on the weak, Large numbered populace impose their belief, Rather than understanding one another, Exchanging respect and help to survive The difficulties that life’s cyclones Throw your way to test your will, powers Your unity, compassion, empathy, and loves.
Let nature be your teacher, Respect its mightier strength as a lover, Embrace its touch, reach into the sun to empower Your steely strength as swelteringly hot as The magma that bubbles from within Trying in vain to alligate its worth to that of life not death.

Existential Void
Double Accrostic
Extenuating circumstances Vie to the Xysti to try and rest Omitting Intentionality of an existental voId Sublimating intensions of Destructively Tumultuous wars within that try to Eradicate despair’s darkest emptiness, Never allowing it to overflow with The love, faith needed to defy Villany Interminable in its need to destrOy Astronomical strength that Intensifies Living in the light of hope, never Denouncing the void.

The binary opposition symbols in life have Somewhat helped identify that you gave Thought to the ‘other’ by describing The ‘self’ through an opposing
Lense not unlike the way we divide Our characters with Yin and Yan that hide The existence of otherness within That is Masked and out of site, in a bin.
The tree of life is no different Then the struggle within that’s bent On having ‘good’ win against ‘evil’, Knowing the oversimplification that’ll
Persuade the peridic nature of anger To cool with the calming breeze, paper, That hang onto the branches, safer, As emotions try to erode its beautifier
Of shades, hues of greens, pleasing To the eye, while knowing that changing From one state of emotion to another Is as fugacious as the flow of a timer
Set off too swiftly to linger On the abstinence of a greater Power that helps settle the struggle Making managing life easier than trouble.

A simple ‘Wish for Peace’, where children play, innocently not wake in fear as they hear a plane pass them by; where families have a right to live together, where death comes only by accident or age, where the need for justice is stronger than making money, and where prosperity is achievable. I hope this International Day for Peace brings up REAL PEACE.
Wish for Peace
The fragile beauty of the dandelion In my hand whose grip on land Dares you to eradicate its presence in Zion As it spreads through the wish for peace to lend
A hand to those in need of a blend Of peace in their days of suffering Without end. Wish for peace for them to send
Their children to schools With filled bellies of fresh food Sprinkled with life giving water that drools In honor of a wish for peace that stood
On the doorstep waiting, waiting Patiently for humanity’s response To help save those whose beliefs, never straying, Empowers their wish for peace

Suffocating the subjugated with sovereignty Openly uttering negativity to sublimanate the Vanity of the sovereign imposing rules, Entertaining the ‘other’ to propagate being Receptive to differences and acceptance of Even alteration of ‘self’ to become Instantly ‘sovereign-passing’, whose race is unimportant Gravitating to implementing a ‘New’ identity, Needing integration into society, never Trusting that your OWN IDentity identifies Your language, culture, civilization that’s uniquely You.

Thank you, administrators, for the honor. Below please read the Double Gold winning poem:
Clown Mask
Of all the social masks I wear, My favorite is that of the clown. It’s cheery colors hide the circles under My eyes, the blood red cheeks are a gown
For covering blotchy skin from bouts Of crying concealed in my lonely room, Where the walls are party to the clouts Of invisible pressures well sheathed in a bloom
Of colors, passionate deadly red, That’s double edged in giving me My highs and lows, happy and sad, While white’s my hope for peace that came
In the relatively darkened home, Knocked lightly, politely asking permission For entry. It entreats me To join the calm within the raven compassion
Of a heart needing an outlet to its Pent up frustrations, disillusionments, Disappointments and loss’s gots Its hold on the vice of hate’s
Antonym requiring a face lifted Into a mask of joy pierced by the gift Of faith, love, and will to be lightened By their brilliance overcoming the dead lift.

Life, birth, wedding, and death Are the closed cycle of life’s Unending strive to surmount its stresses.
The closed circle cycles in an infinite loop Starting with an infant, needing an endless group To help with the raising of those so dependent.
Youth and the need for friendship and peers Is the first of many changes rolling fears Into those struggling with new responsibilities.
Adults have to balance the circles Of friends, family, spouse, collegues, and babes Creating an equilibrium that feeds their joy’s Rather than their emptiness, loneliness.
Seniors bend and flex back into a state Of infancy, dependency, and put a stake In what they perceive as the end, death. But is death an end or a start?
Does the cycle end? Or is it perpetuated in a new bend That begins after one’s end?
What comes first: the beginning or the ending The egg or the chicken, the mother or child? Where does it all really end?
