Honored to be among these poets for my poem: Mission Escape,

Thank you,  administrators,  for the honor and your hard work.

Mission: Escape

Whenever mankind faces existential problems
They have two possible opposing reactions:
Escape the present, and start somewhere else;
Or alter your priorities to advance survival of humanity.

Historically,  when Europe wanted to get rid of criminals,
They placed them on a boat to the then ‘savagery’
Of North America,  where indigenous people
Roamed freely, thriving without the need
That are imposed by the ‘guests’ who shot
And killed indiscriminately to take over the lands.
From this grew capitalist society that takes
Advantage of its population to grow in powers.

Today, there are no undiscovered territories or unexploited ones.
So … What recourse does humanity have for its survivals?
All that’s left is space, Mars, our closest Neighbor
Is millions of miles away with an uninhabitable atmosphere.
Technology is advancing at such an exponential rate
That a mission to Mars is a proven possibility.

Man’s an ostrich!!!!
He hides from his problems rather than face them!
Instead of spending billions on fixing earth,
He spends hundreds of billions on space travels.
How can we progress if we can’t solve our obstacles?
Civilizations will die down because of this,
And people’s acceptance of change is in paralysis.

The Face of the Moon

Between late afternoon and twilight
The moon’s light is up for a fight!

It looks like a crescent of many shapes, flew:
Waxing Gibbous, First Quarter, to name a few.

Craters of darkest gray shadows,
That creep out of craters and crows

The light with its raven blues
Darkening, as the sun downs

Into dusk and gradually
Becomes a steeped ebony.

When the craters become prevalent
In the face of the moon that lent

A smile to its ever raven hue,
The smile grows into a grin that few

Can erase,  as its cheer seeps
Into the skin, eliminating frowns that are bleeps.

Certificate of Appreciation for my poem, Unity

Thank you administrators for the hard work you put in the prompts and judging our work. You’re highly appreciated 👏

Unity

How do we unite when we’re so different?
We might differ but beneath, we’ve got
The same biology, red blood, emotions whose lot

Is to find similarities to bridge
Stereotypes, opinions, religion, race, that judge
Without logic or understanding, rather pledge

Disunity, division, as diversity of aims
That ramify and highlight disparity that comes
More easily then finding commonality in times

When a unified community, humanity
Means peace, while division means war, ably
Turning a pretty penny as colizers’ ability

To exploit the subjugated through
Creating enmity where none could throw
Away their misplaced Stereotypes that bow

To the reign of weapons
Whose response is murder that dons
The crown of power flown in tons

Of decisive death combatted
Only by understanding of diversity united.

Triple Platinum Certificate,  poem: Broken

Broken

She sits on the cold unforgiving ground,
Ground that has absorbed her bountiful tears,
Tears of a broken heart,
Heart that has seen too much loss,
Loss of family, spouse, innocence,
Innocence of the unaware of the world,
World gone mad from the needs,
Needs that are illogical, depraved,
Depraved in their unethical destructive,
Destructive nature of familial bonds,
Bonds that help communities grow,
Grow in compassion and humanity,
Humanity, that’s our commonality,
Commonality of blood and origin,
Origin in Adam, the first prophet,  man,
Man who made a mistake and fixed,
Fixed it for his progeny to prosper,
Prosper In an empty, arid land,
Land where possibilities are endlessly,
Endlessly varied for doing
Doing good or evil.
Evil that makes her ruminate,
Ruminate on her actions that’ve gotten,
Gotten her into her lonesome state,
State of depression, if she’s not careful,
Careful to an optimist working to achieve
Achieve her dreams without failed faith,
Faith that has driven depression into
Into its watery death in the river of her tears.

Silver Certificate,  poem: Eagles

What a great way to start my day!

The eagle’s flight is sacred to me, it represents freedom and breaking the bonds of social stricture. I wanted to get the idea across that an eagle never loses his self-confidence,  and, we, as humans, should look up into the sky for the example we want to follow.

Laureate Award

I’m flabbergasted by the honor bestowed on me by ZeZabek for choosing my poetry to be on par with a laureate writer.  I hope that I can rise to the occasion by writing with greater honesty,  passion, and love for the craft. Using my poetry as my voice to the world that needs to be reminded that its humanity is valued by me, God, family, as well as by themselves.  Never let your compassion and empathy become lax.

Award of Appreciation: poem, Conformity

Conformity

Education is highly priced so that
Few can achieve its height.

The higher the knowledge you try
To receive the more indoctrinated, bound not to fly

While wisdom’s harmony demands your
Calm acceptance of self and all around who pour

Their spirituality into a fervor for variety
Of life’s changing setting, requiring piety,

Humanity, compassion, empathy, and embrace
The continually altered reality with its grace

In knowing that equilibrium is a must
As the world is based on its crust

That’s unshakable in its strength, as long
As respect is exchanged so we all belong.

Double Bronze & Certificate of Excellence: Her Gaze

Her head, slightly tilted up, looking
Into his beautiful chocalaty eyes
Swarming with love, passion, striving
To impart his longing to listen to her piano’s

Rendition of an Austrian waltz,
Stiring his passions for her innocence,
Compassion, and adaptability that’s the cause
Of his unfailing support for her patience,

That’s infallible in her haloed
Reverence for their rhythm and harmony
In a life filled with shared experiences, favored
With laughter ringing with a clarity

That resonates within the heart,
Making its flutter call out their names
When you feel their need for your part
Of a hug, kiss, even a game played that aims

To not only fill them with cheer for their
Peers, but also teaches morals
And ethics that help stabilize greater
Community unity that propels

The certainty that although life,
Tech, health fluctuate, our strength
Of belief in one another’s humanity’s care
For its perseverance in the face of adversity, at length

Will never drop its compassion,
Survival when faced with injustice, confusion.

The Cedar Is Me

I look upon the four hundred year old Cedar tree
That has survived such chaos, death,  decimation
Of great forests of pine trees by invaders who ‘free’
It of its natural resources, life, and vegetation.
Encased in the trunk of the ancient tree, the world
Is small, burning hot under the summer sun, flashing
Its heat and brilliance to help everything grow into a postcard
That’s photoshopped into being breathtaking
In its organized life, only disturbed by humans barking
Out order for dissolving the inner and outer beauty of its solitude.

Slipping out of the of the cedar tree, I take my human form
And gaze astounded on my reflection: wrinkled skin,
Darkened splotches, and great disillusionment
Darkens the depth of my eyes as I lay bare upon the bank.
The scenes of war and decimation I witnessed
Have been imprinted on my soul, waiting for any deed
That will alleviate my despair that humanity is a dying breed
That needs new blood, ingenuity,  and values
To help it defeat famine, war, racism, and religious discriminations.
