Review of my poem:

Break the Mold

Double Accrostic

Break out! Break the mold!
Remember to be  you       Me
Even when the going        gEts tough
Are you able to stand         kNowing
Kings entertainers         athleTes professionals

The fame all                 encompAssing never fails
Heading into disaster                 Losing self-respect
Even before showing your true colors.

Steadfast strong never          Holding back
Training accepting inevitability                     Employing
Ingenuity to excell in the face of    Adversity
Gleaning the training necessary Leaving nothing
Motivating growth to keep the          Team from
Annihilation by being the weak link Holding them back.

High Park, Toronto

On Sunday,  we went to High Park in Toronto in order to get a peak at the cherry Blossoms. It was disappointing to see that 80% of the flowers had fallen already, but the Park was full of families, bikers, teens, all out in the sun, watching nature around us. Among the beauty that captured my imagination was this beautiful bird: Red winged black bird, Agelaius, difficult to pronounce for sure, but an Astoundingly beautiful bird with red and yellow wings contrasting starkly with the ebony black of the bird’s body. The only way for me to have been able to capture it in flight was to take a video and screenshot the pictures I wanted,  then zoom.

I had such a great time, walked/ hiked the trail with my cousin, then had lunch. The weather was a beautiful spring day with very little wind and hot sun, no jacket needed. Highly recommend a visit. Below is a picture from a Google search, clearly showing the different colors in the wing.

Certificate of Achievement,  May’s Spring

My poem received the above certificate of achievement.

May’s Spring

My eyes are always turned to the sky,
Where beauty and simplicity vie
For supremacy in an empty spacy.

Birds of all kinds fly by, flocking,  migrating,
Setting new habits for their chicks’ living
Quarters that are overflowing with forests, changing
With each new flock that’s arriving.
Live honoring nature’s power,
Its giving nature that is a bower
Of safety when you need a lover
Without motives, who is only a supporter.

Embrace your brethren in humanity,
Their races receding into the vicinity
Of acceptance,  that all Man is emotionally
And physically the same, all have red blood.

Feelings, passions, and red flowing blood
Saunter into each’s body in a flood
Of confusion that needs sorting and bud,
Swamping everyone with a unique personage.

Burgeon into your character,
Let your wings flutter,
Soar like a flower petal as the breezer
Tries to alter your course, but you are its conqueror.

Double Silver Certificate,  poem: Haunted Mansion

I’m always wondrously amazed that my work is being honored by fellow poets.

I’ll apologize to my readers or followers for the darkness of the themes that I’m writing about in the recent months, but they are my outlet for past and present visual trauma of war.

HAPPY MOTHER EARTH DAY

Acrostic

H eavenly healing properties live
A vidly throughout your
P roperty,  propagating instantly,
P aving the way for health that’s declining
Y early.  The land we’re here to protect

M oves into its shrinking measure,
O penly resisting the occupier, Man, heedless of
T he destructive power
H e possesses over the beauty’s
E ternal flame of rejuvenation
R arely given the time to heal

E ven when it’s imperative for farmers’
A rid harvests that feed none,
R everently spewing it’s need for
T he people to care for the land’s
H aloed ground that quenches hunger,

D riving Man into thirst for fire,
A ir, water, seeds’ harvest in a nest that’s
Y et to be bound in his ability not to survive alone.

Confrontations

What makes you nervous?

Confrontations that may hurt other people’s feelings, especially family members,  are my worst nightmare.  In all honesty,  I usually bottle up my problems so that when I do finally confront the person, my reaction is usually stronger, more aggressive than it should be. That alone creates more problems.  I’m working on being more upfront with my feelings,  but it’s difficult to change 5 decades of behavior in a short time.

Double Gold Certificate: Vanity’s Curse

Vanity’s Curse

From the swirling darkened fog
A wisp of a gorgeous woman
Wrapped haphazardly in blood red smog
Alive in its flow as she moves, an

Astounding beauty, captivatingly attractive,
Sensual, and her sexuality bared for
All to consume closely and become enraptusured
By a fiery beauty hiding an insidious core,

Horrifically rotten with envy,
Hatred, corruption, aggression,
All coalesce within her stare, a visionary
Of destruction, disunity, strife that lend to perfection

Into her spiderweb of infractions
That destroy unity’s equality
And fairness that require absolutions
From a community that venerates all that’s holy.

Wherever there’s equanimity
She presents chaos and superfluous vanity.

Certificate of appreciation: Indoctrination

Indoctrination

Education, eradication, indoctrination
Are all a part of teaching enlightenment.
It’s easy to instill new ethics in competition
With tradition that require less effort

And give free reign to desires rampant
In their need to rule in confrontation
With your subconscious screaming at
Behaviors clamoring for ethical commiseration

While schools, society, and social media are in congregation
In an overt need to instill the requirement
Of integration at the expense of consideration
For the soul’s cry for disciplined faith that meant

Ease of conscious, inner calm, that
Imposes acceptance, growth, and beautification
Of imagination within souls that never forget
To be humbled by divine creation.

Social Division through Labels

What would you change about modern society?

Modern society has a tendency to create class/ label subdivisions in order to create distance, even dissention among the population. It’s ironic, really, how by coming up with a variety of labels that are racial, neurological, gender specific, and more are invariably creating communities within communities that create separation and division between a community. These classifications make communication more difficult,  as traditional rules don’t apply, more specifically, they deviate from the norm, creating a greater gap in understanding the needs of all. I may be backwards or too traditional, but at least in a world where gender roles, values, acceptable behavior, and norms have all become skewed.
