Double Gold Certificate,  poem: Clown Mask

Thank you, administrators,  for the honor. Below please read the Double Gold winning poem:

Clown Mask

Of all the social masks I wear,
My favorite is that of the clown.
It’s cheery colors hide the circles under
My eyes, the blood red cheeks are a gown

For covering blotchy skin from bouts
Of crying concealed in my lonely room,
Where the walls are party to the clouts
Of invisible pressures well sheathed in a bloom

Of colors, passionate deadly red,
That’s double edged in giving me
My highs and lows, happy and sad,
While white’s my hope for peace that came

In the relatively darkened home,
Knocked lightly, politely asking permission
For entry. It entreats me
To join the calm within the raven compassion

Of a heart needing an outlet to its
Pent up frustrations, disillusionments,
Disappointments and loss’s gots
Its hold on the vice of hate’s

Antonym requiring a face lifted
Into a mask of joy pierced by the gift
Of faith, love, and will to be lightened
By their brilliance overcoming the dead lift.

Certificate of Outstanding,  poem, The Cycle of Life

Thank you administrators for the honor 🎖

The Cycle of Life

Life, birth, wedding, and death
Are the closed cycle of life’s
Unending strive to surmount its stresses.

The closed circle cycles in an infinite loop
Starting with an infant, needing an endless group
To help with the raising of those so dependent.

Youth and the need for friendship and peers
Is the first of many changes rolling fears
Into those struggling with new responsibilities.

Adults have to balance the circles
Of friends,  family, spouse, collegues, and babes
Creating an equilibrium that feeds their joy’s
Rather than their emptiness, loneliness.

Seniors bend and flex back into a state
Of infancy, dependency, and put a stake
In what they perceive as the end, death.
But is death an end or a start?

Does the cycle end?
Or is it perpetuated in a new bend
That begins after one’s end?

What comes first: the beginning or the ending
The egg or the chicken,  the mother or child?
Where does it all really end?

Certificate of Excellence,  poem: Eye of the Storm

Can’t express my gratitude for the honor.

Eye of the Storm

The southern Belle stands knowing
The storm is imminent. She looks
Towards its development, but is gazing
Towards home, worried that all, in blinks,

Will disappear through the cyclone,
Flood, twister, desert storm, any and all
Possible, as she blinks and stands like a stone,
Her wandering mind building a fall.

A fall from greatness, as she and hers
Are destroyed by a destructive nature
That has no mercy, rather only a force, a scouter
For vulnerability, and pitilessly attacks

Land, sea, farms, concrete jungles,
Where none can stand up to the veracity
Of their powerlessness when faced by nature’s
Omnipotence over those living on earth, stately.

Certificate of Appreciation for my poem, Unity

Thank you administrators for the hard work you put in the prompts and judging our work. You’re highly appreciated 👏

Unity

How do we unite when we’re so different?
We might differ but beneath, we’ve got
The same biology, red blood, emotions whose lot

Is to find similarities to bridge
Stereotypes, opinions, religion, race, that judge
Without logic or understanding, rather pledge

Disunity, division, as diversity of aims
That ramify and highlight disparity that comes
More easily then finding commonality in times

When a unified community, humanity
Means peace, while division means war, ably
Turning a pretty penny as colizers’ ability

To exploit the subjugated through
Creating enmity where none could throw
Away their misplaced Stereotypes that bow

To the reign of weapons
Whose response is murder that dons
The crown of power flown in tons

Of decisive death combatted
Only by understanding of diversity united.

Vacay: Tripoli, Lebanon

At the old Souk and old port where the architecture reflects the Lebanese history. The city is called, Tripoli, due to the 3 doors of entry to the city. The old ports history is filled with different civilizations, archeological artifacts, buildings that represent the marriage of cultures, and blending of religions into a united people.

There are three Souks: gold, clothing, and copper that showcase the melding of history and modernity. Their beauty lies in their preservation and continued upkeep.

Platinum Certificate of Excellence,  Poem: Woman’s Loss

Woman’ Loss

She stands with her bent leg on the wall,
Her formfitting white dress flows and fall
Below her knees, showing a slither of thigh
As she lays back on the white washed wall,

Her black hair coiffed over her shoulder,
As elegant as you please, with sunglasses, reflecter
Of the world, but a mask for her pain,
As a straw hat dangles from tips of finger,

She looks into the sky, wondering
If he’s watching and judging
Her actions after his loss,
Living a life without his supporting

Embrace, as she holds the tears,
Never giving them free reign, she bares
Her soul into her dark glasses and prays
For patience from the One above, and cries.

Gold Certificate,  Musical Soul

Musical Soul

Her head is always up in space
Where music flows like a water bow,
It comes and goes in a crescendo
That takes a dip into a diminuendo
In a homophony of sounds whose grace

Imbues the soul with a legato
Using a metronome to keep time
For all octaves of musicality as if a crime
Takes place if you don’t ascend with the rhythm
Of vibrato that reaches within the soul in tempo

With moods that are impossible
To tone down into a flaming
Simmer, unchanging while honoring
A person’s vivace through notes, singing
Through the soul to change the impossible.
