German Shepherd

What are your favorite animals?

I used to hate dogs as a child, as our guard dog, a Doberman, at the time, hat been out of his cage without my knowledge. It was a special day, I was wearing a red skirt and white top, with 2 brown braids over my shoulders. I ran into the yard, excited, speaking loudly to be heard over the sound of my siblings’ loud voices, suddenly, I felt a huge weight on my shoulders, and a heavy breath exhaling, as the dog quickly snapped on my braids. I screamed and ran, unknowing he’d be right behind me! A friend caught me by the arm and moved me out of the dog’s way, as something else attracted its attention. Since then, I’ve always been scared of dog’s, till we got our GSD, puppy Zeus. We was so tiny, a ball of affection, but nippy. He became my protector and was jealous of my husband if he came close to me. Zeus would move his entire cage to get to me if he felt I was unhappy or threatened.

From then on, I have a loving relationship with GSDs. The picture is of our current GSD, Sly, taking a well-earned moment after chasing a ball!

Death’s Door, Certificate of Excellence

Death’s Door

The time for death is near,
Near the hearth of family,
Family, whose the sole perpetrator,
Perpetrator of unconditional love.
Love, that’s the ravager of loneliness,
Loneliness that drives despair,
Despair, that’s the cultivator
Cultivator of dispossessed souls,
Souls that needed love, received brutality.
Brutality that’s emotional and physical,
Physical breaks that takes ages,
Ages to mend, but never overcome,
Overcome completely the degradation,
Degradation of Death’s door that opens
Opens for all aggressors who’ve torn,
Torn away at your confidence.
Confidence that you rip out of their palms,
Palms that are covered in blood,
Blood of the innocent who survived,
Survived hell on earth and won,
Won the war over death’s door.

Happy Thanksgiving

Acrostic

Thankful for all I have, and never

Hate others for having more.

Another year and my appreciation grows

Never stopping its exponential climb.

Kneeling before GOD, the only,

Serving one another the way

GOD commanded us to be brothers,

Including love of all, while

Vying for HIS benevolence as we

Inquire about the reasoning for events

Glorifying death, murder, and immorality.

Prison and/ or Liberty

“I, a bird from a confined prison, sings for liberation because of the death of liberty.” Mayyu Hamim

When the power of the pen is stronger than the image it represents, people start accepting their confined prison as their only reality.  However, when a people have been confined for decades, their only recourse is no longer humanity’s humanitarian help, but rather a spiritual one, where they rely on justice in the afterlife instead of that of politicians.

For all those who’ve been murdered unnecessarily in Congo, Somalia, Palestine, Bosnia/ Herzegovina, India, Rohinga, and many more, our hearts are bleeding with yours. Plus, if my only contribution is a word, poem, or comment here or there, excuse my powerlessness in the face of global economies that rule our world.

Double Gold certificate

The Imaginary Train

The antique train whose trim
Of burnished wood shone against
The moonlight perpetrating its glam
Exterior with inner luxury at the behest
Of imagination that couldn’t rest.

The marvels of crystal chandeliers
Hanging over dining areas stupefy
The onlooker with wealth that prospers
Through diamond necklaces dangling in hefty
Abundance with gold on skin that’s shiny.

My eyes stray to windows whose glare
Of the lover’s moon is framed
In a beauteous flame that’ll revere
The scene unfolding in a dreamed
Opulent night littered with star-studded

Light of glittery jewels that put
Diamonds, rubies, sapphires, to shame
As the light blinds your eyes and cut
The veil of imagination by rendering it lame
In the presence of nature’s magic, that’s aflame.

Let the train take you on its journey,
The journey of life that twists, turns,
Dips, and rises to all occasions with a flurry
Of activity that glories fighting pains,
Overcoming obstacles as small as grains.

I’m reviewing several books

What book are you reading right now?

I’m reviewing several books: poetry and short story anthologies. I’m enjoying the variety in writing styles and perspectives. I’m a bookworm who writes poetry and her opinion, freely, trying to be as honest as possible. Reading is my gateway to a world of unknowns that makes more sense in writing as it feels as though it has logic behind it.

My book: Perfectly Flawed poetry for change is poetry that critiques colonialism,  injustice,  and fosters self-worth and growth.

Kind vs Unkind

Having seen this post, it reminded me of the plight of Palestinians who’ve been oppressed, subjugated, and mistreated for 7 decades, and how even under bombardment, there are men and women trying to help one another. It’s astounding how colonization has fostered a sense of community and kindness to others’ suffering, all of which has been posted on Instagram/ X, if the administrators didn’t have the chance to remove them yet.

The atrocities they have faced and will continue to face are unimaginable and incomprehensible, as it’s too violent to process.

Like

What is a word you feel that too many people use?

I absolutely abhor hearing the word ‘like’, as it’s become a conversational filler that has lost its original meaning.

Cleaning the breakfast table, Ironing

What part of your routine do you always try to skip if you can?

I hate clearing and cleaning the breakfast/ lunch/ dinner table as it’s always in use, and if each person leaves 1 object behind, that makes for 5 things to pit back!!!!

Another thing I hate is ironing. I know it’s not always a daily routine thing, but I delay it until I have a huge pile I want to continue to ignore!
