Invisible Poets weekly challenge honors my poem: Karma

Thank you, administrators,  for the accolade.  Your hard work is highly appreciated.

Karma

All man-made laws have loopholes
That help people become fools

For not striding the narrow path
That emblazons morality in a breath

Radiating Karmic laws of wisdom:
Actions demand reactions, while calm

Patience are rewards in themselves,
As well as reducing regret that halves

Your wasted time on your perception
Of a past long gone, when the now’s convention

For living with all that’s happened before,
But focusing on your motivation to perform

Better today and tomorrow,  for no-one knows
What the future holds except what we make of it that blows.

Blows away are expectations
Into the stratosphere of humble imaginations.

As we take the pose to meditate
Theses thoughts flutter on the overflowing plate

Of responsibilities, endless, sapping
Energies that need rejuvenating

As quiet solitude is a necessary boon
That settles the soul from its frantic cocoon.

Double Diamond Certificate for my poem: HomeLess

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade.  Your hardwork is highly appreciated.

HomeLess

What’s a home?
Who defines it?
Does it need a roof on it?
Can’t I live in the street and call it home?

Yes, my home is any corner
Empty,  that I can rest my back
And see any danger coming to strike
A chord of fear in me, as I lay in my corner.

Passersby don’t even acknowledge
My existence, they’re either isolated
With earbuds in their own world,
Or checking their emails, too busy to see and acknowledge

That some humans can’t live in a box
Of walls, as their mental health prevents
Them from accepting the quietude whose costs
To them is too high for them to stay in the box.

Look at the elderly man sitting quietly
In the corner street,  as next time he may
Not be there to greet you. His sad smile will flay
Your heart with its resounding might, quietly

Searching for the next meal from a compassionate
Soul who realizes that this HomeLess man
Needs help, but pride has cost him his pen
That wrote his story of a society that’s not compassionate.

Certificate of Appreciation for my poem: A Well Told Tale

Thank you, administrators,  for the accolade.  Your work is highly appreciated.

A Well Told Tale

As September flows with fall
Leaves, school starts, and students
Congregate together in circles that ball
Their hatred into sweetened scents,

Like fall spiced cakes melting
In the palate, but goes down like
Knives tearing away confidence, striking
The most vulnerable to rise above them as they hike

Away, fleeing the hurt, depression
That steals away their happiness,
Cheer, and optimism inflicting compression
Of the heart into heated coal, unless,

Unless I come to the forefront
With an uplifting anecdote that reveals
The impunity of the instigators whose font
In capitals, try to keep their popularity that feels

Like actors on show, who need
Evidence of their power over
Others, while my short tale told
Them both that intellect and humor

Rise above vanity and inflicting pain,
As my travail reveals their shortcomings
As one hurts, while the other gain
Insurmountable damage to their self-images.

As they let my intervention sink in
The depressed learns a lesson
In strength to overcome negativity in
A world that seems to require it, as would any prison.

Certificate of Achievement for my acrostic poem: Ubiquitous

UBIQUITOUS

U nder the viral trends of social media,
B usy bees are seldom at rest, they consume
I nfinite videos, news- real or fake-, cartoons,
Q uibbling over media’s contexts, profits,
U ndeniable effects of dehumanization of
I ndomitable spirits of warriors, believers,
T raveling together a road filled with distress
O mnipresent in their daily lives, as their struggles are shown as
U biquitous, acceptable even as one sees their
S tarvation, amputations, and orphans, smiling still.

Invisible poets honoring my poem: Stairway of Goals

Stairway of Goals

As I start my trek into the woods,
I note the natural stairway leading
To a summit. With each step I take, my son prods
Me on with encouraging, motivating
Talk that never falls short of helping me
Uncover my hidden strengths, in time

To achieve each goal in a space
Where my comfort is of paramount
Importance,  but I still need the grace
And humbleness to accept advice, even as I mount
An internal war to grow outside my realm
Of family, friends, extending my wings in my palm

To reach out to those who’ve lost
So much, as they feel stunted, stagnant,
But, really, their strengths are epic needing to be emulated.

Alien Buddha Press published 3 of my poems: Press Vest, Sounds of War, and MY YEAR OF RESTITUTION

On the first year anniversary of the war in P@l3st1ne, Alien Buddha Press is reminding us of our need to keep our humanity by speaking about the persecution of said people. I wrote another poem on P@l3st1ne that is about pictures that have stuck a chord within me, that I can’t shake because the injustice is against children, babies, and infants.  Those are the greatest victims of any war, as when they survive,  the trauma of what they’ve been through has to be carried,  and it feels like a very heavy burden. 😕

Reading my poems: Free Speech and Breathe Through The Blood,  at the Petal Projections magazine event

What a great way to meet other writers, their perspectives,  personalities,  and sense of community.

Thank you, Rim Rizk, for pilots the magazine and getting us together.  Your hard work is highly appreciated.

Free Speech

Black cap and gown covering her
Blue eyes and Golden spun hair,
While the Statue of Liberty
Dares to hold its hand, plainly

Trying to obstruct her from
Speaking her mind, daring to come
Forward with the truth to resound
In media’s intifada while bound …

Breathe Through The Blood

I’m drowning in blood,
Blood of families blown asunder,
Asunder. Limbs and heads loll,
Loll, broken, decapitated, bloody,
Bloody from arteries leaking,
Leaking from wounds, impossible,
Impossible to tend, as hospitals,
Hospitals have lost the ability to heal,
Heal thousands of extreme wounds, …

One of the participants getting mentioned for my poetry

Below was the picture prompt for the contest: a noble ostrish. Below is an exert of the poem:

The Perfect Politician

Regal, nose up in the air,
Well dressed, in darkened color,
Portraying his evil soul that bore
His progeny and a history of colonial flair,

In which he poses for paintings
Not pictures, wears a ruff
Underlined with piqué lace on neck and cuff,
A velour jacket with extra ruffled sleeves

In a pint to show he has an ancestry
That’s as old as time, while, his beady
Eyes, pointy nose, extra long neck, crow a lively
Tune for a more modern age, where money

Is accumulated in his neck,
Will only let him see his long nose, forever
In the throws of making more money to close

The gap between fortunes on the
Elitist echelon of power hungry
Politicians whose small minds carry
Life of thousands in abject poverty who can’t breathe.
