Gold Award for my acrostic poem, MUNDANE

Thank you,  administrators,  for the accolade and your hard work required.

MUNDANE

Muddle through the mundane morass
Under the umbrella of life, ungrateful for the
Narcissist cycle of life that’s drainingly
Dramatic in daily routines, yet, once your
Ample gratitude kicks in, you
Note all you have that others don’t
Empowers you to push through the little things.

Accolade for my poem: Demon

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work. Mostly, I’d like to thank you for the uplifting critique of my writing.

Demons, to me, are the ones within that need to be silenced as they they represent negativity.  Having the will to overcome its sussurations is harder than achieving any goal needing a particular skill or talent.

Have fun dissing these demons and throwing them into a locked chest, never able to surface again.

My poetry book, Perfectly Flawed poetry for change,  is available on all eplatforms including Amazon.  It was on the finalist list for the Canadian Book Club Awards 2023.

Double Silver Certificate of Excellence, poem: Dualities

Thank you, administrators, for the honor.

Dualities

The binary opposition symbols in life have
Somewhat helped identify that you gave
Thought to the ‘other’ by describing
The ‘self’ through an opposing

Lense not unlike the way we divide
Our characters with Yin and Yan that hide
The existence of otherness within
That is Masked and out of site, in a bin.

The tree of life is no different
Then the struggle within that’s bent
On having ‘good’ win against ‘evil’,
Knowing the oversimplification that’ll

Persuade the peridic nature of anger
To cool with the calming breeze, paper,
That hang onto the branches, safer,
As emotions try to erode its beautifier

Of shades, hues of greens, pleasing
To the eye, while knowing that changing
From one state of emotion to another
Is as fugacious as the flow of a timer

Set off too swiftly to linger
On the abstinence of a greater
Power that helps settle the struggle
Making managing life easier than trouble.

Certificate of excellence, Overflowing Chalice

Overflowing Chalice

Choices, choices, how many do you make everyday?
Good choices, poor choices, which are the best in a fray?

Career choices at a young age,
Friendships good and bad, relegate all that’s a rage,

Pressure, peers, social, cultural, all turn an empty page
In a life that’s overwhelmed with questions of existence.

Run, run, run along,
Round, round you go all the way, longing, long,

Wishing there exists a preset solution
That facilitates life’s process for a decision.

The summation of all experiences create
A diverse stream in the chalice if inequity’s rate.

Depending on your perception and that of your kin,
The chalice overflows with a negatively skewed bin

That lowers your morale when all you need
Is for the chalice of injustice to be empty indeed.

Dear Diary,

As the keeper of my secrets,

I need to confess my troubles.

I run around trying to please everyone And seem to end up alone!

As if by indulging others’ needs before mine,

I relegate my own happiness into a dark mine.

In it, the gloominess of the ambience

Is oppressive, comfortless, and has no patience.

As I squabble with my inner demons,

And my supererogation drowns my angels’ voices,

I notice that angels are a happy lot,

Who empower the self and never forgot

That there’s a price to pay for sacrificing For others, but it doesn’t need to be self-defeating.

No, no, no, and once more, no!

By helping others, you aren’t weak to

Assert your endowments to achieve

Your wishes without being demeaning,

Rather, you can help others believe

Not only in themselves, but in You.
