Award of Appreciation for poem: Wealth of Spirit

A great honor to have been chosen for this accolade.  Thank you administrators!

Wealth of Spirit

Money comes and goes,
Wealth, horded, loses its value,
But strength of character throws
Its power behind the breadth you

Wish to achieve, simply by staying
True to your upbringing’s teaching,
In which the force of discipline resounds
In actions reflecting all that bonds:

Faith, compassion, behavior,
Wisdom, and spiritual striver
Who wish enlightenment as a converter
Of ethics that need discipline as a recorder.

Certificate of Outstanding,  poem, The Cycle of Life

Thank you administrators for the honor 🎖

The Cycle of Life

Life, birth, wedding, and death
Are the closed cycle of life’s
Unending strive to surmount its stresses.

The closed circle cycles in an infinite loop
Starting with an infant, needing an endless group
To help with the raising of those so dependent.

Youth and the need for friendship and peers
Is the first of many changes rolling fears
Into those struggling with new responsibilities.

Adults have to balance the circles
Of friends,  family, spouse, collegues, and babes
Creating an equilibrium that feeds their joy’s
Rather than their emptiness, loneliness.

Seniors bend and flex back into a state
Of infancy, dependency, and put a stake
In what they perceive as the end, death.
But is death an end or a start?

Does the cycle end?
Or is it perpetuated in a new bend
That begins after one’s end?

What comes first: the beginning or the ending
The egg or the chicken,  the mother or child?
Where does it all really end?

Cosby Show, Perry Mason

What TV shows did you watch as a kid?

As a teen, I enjoyed the Cosby Show, as it represented North American society and its critique through character interactions. The fact that I was an immigrant and needed to learn how families functioned in this region so I could better integrate in a society that felt strange to me.  A few years later,I became interested in how law is perceived and applied in courts, so Perry Mason.

However,  as I became an adult, I learned that these shows were to promote a particular ideology,  rather than represent actual society.  I was duly disappointed with that realization.

Triple Gold Certificate,  poem: Unity’s Cadence

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade for my poem:

Unity’s Cadence

The world is in chaos
Its violence coalesces into pathos
For all those affected by such loss.

My internal confusion fuses
With the world’s chaos and turns the hues
Of my root, heart, throat, and other chakras

Into an amalgam, merging
Needs, internal, external brewing
In a cauldron where spiritual testing

Is composed of intrinsic harmony
That binds all in a flow that’s perfectly
Embued in a oneness connecting flawlessly,

Letting each part of you impose
Its problems, asking for help that flows
From one part to another like waves, that glows

In the darkest nights with a brilliance
Only outshone by the sun’s variance
In power to reach all in a cadence

That leaves warmth in all unity.

Certificate of Appreciation for my poem, Unity

Thank you administrators for the hard work you put in the prompts and judging our work. You’re highly appreciated 👏

Unity

How do we unite when we’re so different?
We might differ but beneath, we’ve got
The same biology, red blood, emotions whose lot

Is to find similarities to bridge
Stereotypes, opinions, religion, race, that judge
Without logic or understanding, rather pledge

Disunity, division, as diversity of aims
That ramify and highlight disparity that comes
More easily then finding commonality in times

When a unified community, humanity
Means peace, while division means war, ably
Turning a pretty penny as colizers’ ability

To exploit the subjugated through
Creating enmity where none could throw
Away their misplaced Stereotypes that bow

To the reign of weapons
Whose response is murder that dons
The crown of power flown in tons

Of decisive death combatted
Only by understanding of diversity united.

Double Gold Certificate:

Thank you, Marie, for the honor you’ve placed on my writing.

Masked Window

Dressed in her ivory maskerade ballgown,
Her golden mask, sitting holding a frown,
Wondering carelessly why their return
Was before the clock struck one.

On the window seat, she sits, draped
In her creamy embroidery locked
In wonder, as she gazes through the darkened
Sky lit by a brilliant moon and stars, dangled

In clusters, creating images and a haze
Of moving light surrounding the blaze
Of hope and wonder that are cause
For our betterment and flays the craze

Of depression’s loneliness that she
Left behind, as the music was too loud a bee,
She stirs from her pose of repose to see
And appreciate the beauty and comfort that be

Her succor as she contemplates
The dichotomy of a world at wars
While the other lives freely and creates
Memories, while the other loses or dies.
