Thank you for the honor and your hard work.
Halloween’s Halo
The halo on Halloween’s head
Heads a direct divide into dense
Fields with scarecrows on the fence
Actively aspiring to anchor a bird
So it doesn’t touch the harvest
Longing to be free to shadow dance,
Sing to the moonlit sky in a prance
That would make Dasher envy his behest
For his life is a feast of danger
Watching as prey, monsters, try
To decimate crops not theirs, and fly
Away from the field, a test, reckoning, closer
As the night darkens to a raven’s
Blackness where fear leaches
Into pores, unseen by ghosts, grinches,
Ghouls pouring out of sepulchers cravens
For their fear reeks like cyanide,
Death speeding through rows
Of crows, corn, wheat, pumpkin bows
That cinch nightly ghouls on a ride
To feast on fear’s far-reaching farm.
