Certificate of Excellence, Wishes

Wishes

As the countdown to 2023 starts,
My mind takes a long look behind
And wonders what wishes, surprises
Are in store for 2024 that won’t stand
Down to the tests of time.

I wish for a world of peace
I wish for a world without violence,
I wish for justice to prevail,
I wish for family strength and unity,
I wish for a world that’s compassionate and humane,
I wish for honesty to triumph over lies,
I wish that this society’s rules made sense,
I wish, I wish, I wish…

Wishing for something and achieving
Your goal are separate indeed, as
Working hard drives you to attaining
Your objective, while just wishing for it to lands
In your lap will never happen!

Certificate of excellence, To Dream a World

To Dream a World

As I sleep, my mind creates a world
Of imaginary beings living in harmony,
Where faeries, humans, unicorns, have a word
That’s heard and fuses into all that’s savory.

The faery is such a beauty, holding
Audiences with all and sundry. All, all
Coalesce in one community, cohabitating
One space peacefully and call out, call

The world out on its synchronicity’s need to
Bathe its species, human and other
In a light filled with a pleasing symphony too
Overpowering to be replaced with a hater

That reveals destruction of order of a solicitous
Nature that helps captivate your pretentious cover
Of needing love to be the universal currency instead of audacious
Violence that oppresses the value of being a lover.

Certificate of excellence, Flighty Hearts

Flighty Hearts

Love our paper hearts
Easy to tear,
but cuts
Like a bear.

Its unique shape
Lends to despair,
When it broke
By your hand and air.

Its unique shape
Rises into fullness,
Then dips in face
Of falsehoods that pierce…

Look into its shape
That seems divided
Into yay and nay, a cape
Of vascillation that cried,

Its tear wails
Till eye sight goes blind
With too many choices
And decisions that bind.

Oh ye who have
A paper heart,
Let its love
Blind you and never cut.

Certificate of Excellence, Cow Girl Baby

Cowgirl Baby

Cowgirl boots, shorts, and off the shoulder
Shirt, a toddler holding the phone
Speaking to her brother, who’s far,
Far from home. She gurgles her love,

At times incomprehensibly, laughing
At his replies that have adoration
Light up her eyes as hearing
His voice is her drug of choice, a succession

Of discordant sounds, she interprets
With a beatific cacophony of cries
That invade your heart with warmth that’s
A test to your all encompassing hearts.

World Peace, certificate of excellence


As the peoples raise their flags,
Of varying countries, entering the earth,
The factory of races, dogmas that bags
Their beliefs, cultures, languages leaving no death

Unpunished by the laws of the peoples,
Who worship peaceful humanity
Whose heart is cleaved by what topples
Them: Pride and vanity.

Give the peoples a chance to
Revert to their simple virtues
Which lend a hand to friend and foe
And never bend under oppression’s cues.

Death’s Door, Certificate of Excellence

Death’s Door

The time for death is near,
Near the hearth of family,
Family, whose the sole perpetrator,
Perpetrator of unconditional love.
Love, that’s the ravager of loneliness,
Loneliness that drives despair,
Despair, that’s the cultivator
Cultivator of dispossessed souls,
Souls that needed love, received brutality.
Brutality that’s emotional and physical,
Physical breaks that takes ages,
Ages to mend, but never overcome,
Overcome completely the degradation,
Degradation of Death’s door that opens
Opens for all aggressors who’ve torn,
Torn away at your confidence.
Confidence that you rip out of their palms,
Palms that are covered in blood,
Blood of the innocent who survived,
Survived hell on earth and won,
Won the war over death’s door.

Double Bronze & Certificate of Excellence: Her Gaze



Her head, slightly tilted up, looking
Into his beautiful chocalaty eyes
Swarming with love, passion, striving
To impart his longing to listen to her piano’s

Rendition of an Austrian waltz,
Stiring his passions for her innocence,
Compassion, and adaptability that’s the cause
Of his unfailing support for her patience,

That’s infallible in her haloed
Reverence for their rhythm and harmony
In a life filled with shared experiences, favored
With laughter ringing with a clarity

That resonates within the heart,
Making its flutter call out their names
When you feel their need for your part
Of a hug, kiss, even a game played that aims

To not only fill them with cheer for their
Peers, but also teaches morals
And ethics that help stabilize greater
Community unity that propels

The certainty that although life,
Tech, health fluctuate, our strength
Of belief in one another’s humanity’s care
For its perseverance in the face of adversity, at length

Will never drop its compassion,
Survival when faced with injustice, confusion.
