Certificate of Excellence for my poem: HELL O WEEN

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.

HELL O WEEN

The past year has been worse than any
Halloween as it was actually HELL O WEEN …
The Hell of being weaned on what’s seen
On social media’s snippets of genocide, carry

With it atrocities of dismemberment,
Beheaded children, fetuses gutted, children
Bullseyed by snipers, flour line’s broken
By bullets whizzing past victims of bombardment.

So hello, HELL O WEEN, we see
Your inhumanity,
Your unlawful abiding personality,
Your insouciant attitude to killing.  Be

The Hell in our Haloed Halloween for you’ve
Shown us that: unity is strength,
Gen Z still has a conscience whose breath
Of freshness is awakening those who’ve

Followed blindly behind HELL’s demand
For subservience to its god given
Right to rule the world with a broken
Set of laws that are man-made but bind,

Bind those whose ambition
For power is greater than their compassion.

My poem, Breathe Through the Blood, published in Stencils magazine

Breathe Through The Blood

I’m drowning in blood,
Blood of families blown asunder,
Asunder. Limbs and heads loll,
Loll, broken, decapitated, bloody,
Bloody from arteries leaking,
Leaking from wounds, impossible,
Impossible to tend, as hospitals,
Hospitals have lost the ability to heal,
Heal thousands of extreme wounds,
Wounds teaching ‘How to breathe,
Breathe under water’ and blood, swim freely,
Freely through the morass of corpses,
Corpses dismembered in bombs,
Bombs used to spread fear,
Fear for the need to survive,
Survive another day of massacres,
Massacres in refugee camps,
Camps made of flimsy tents,
Tents made of canvas easily destroyed,
Destroyed by a breeze, flammable with fire,
Fire that burns all to smithereens.,
Smithereens and shards of pagers,
Pagers and phones turned to bombs,
Bombs that made it necessary to remove,
Remove patients’ eyes, that traumatized,
Traumatized surgeons whose job,
Job is to help their patients survive,
Survive,  yes, but with which abilities?

Certificate of Excellence for my poem: Wish for Peace

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.

Wish for Peace

Shooting stars streak into the darkened sky,
The child sees the streak of light and wishes on it to fly.
Deafening silence is followed by bombings.  Try…
As they might by explosions of a deathly
Reign that attempt to hide deception vainly.

As time flows, the adult child now has the same experience
In explosions and debris leading to fear,
That shakes my protective nature for my children in dance.
The flowing steps of which are a journey to independence …

Bombs,  missiles,  guns, rifles, tanks, drones,
So many more tools of today and of yore
Have been used to claim land that is not your.
We fight the other, who fights underhandedely,

By pitting family and kin on opposing sides,
Corrupting those in power, fueling their zeal
For even greater superiority on those weaker.
Fowler measures are taken and the torturer

Brings blood to the fore, enjoying his demonic
Need for supremacy over those only praying
For survival,  peace, health,  and prosperity.

What cleanses the masochist’s need for power,
Striving to worsen the pain for all, in order
To hold down the fort on the throne of the prevailer
Who siphons the people’s money for him to be wealthier.

When will we break this cycle of corruption,
Starvation,  enslavement,  fraud, degradation,
And immortality?  Where does the negation
Of super powers leave us? In constant vibration

Not knowing where the next blow will drop from,
Nor what lifestyle will be adopted in th coming storm.
Living in th ‘twilight zone ‘ is very unnerving,
People live on stress and adapting.

Certificate of Achievement for my acrostic poem: Ubiquitous

UBIQUITOUS

U nder the viral trends of social media,
B usy bees are seldom at rest, they consume
I nfinite videos, news- real or fake-, cartoons,
Q uibbling over media’s contexts, profits,
U ndeniable effects of dehumanization of
I ndomitable spirits of warriors, believers,
T raveling together a road filled with distress
O mnipresent in their daily lives, as their struggles are shown as
U biquitous, acceptable even as one sees their
S tarvation, amputations, and orphans, smiling still.

Review of my poem: Death’s Door

Each time I get a review like this, it motivates me to write more and connect with those who can’t, or won’t, or couldn’t, or shouldn’t be able to express themselves.

This poem is a result of falling back into past trauma based on the wars that’s taking place in the Middle East, Lebanon, Syria,  and P@l3st!ne.

My poetry book, Perfectly Flawed poetry for change, is available on all eplatforms including Amazon.  It was on the finalist list for the Canadian Book Club Awards 2023, and also contains poetry against colonialism and the port explosion in Beirut.

‘Wish for Peace’, a poem accepted for publication

‘Wish for Peace’ is a poem reflecting on the genocide that we’re all bearing witness to. The images, sounds, emotions, fear, PTSD from bombardments’ effects, aggression, loss of entire families, murder of journalists, and much more are the basis for my ‘Wish for Peace’, not for me, but for them.

Enclosed is an exert of the poem:

Their children to schools
With filled bellies of fresh food
Sprinkled with life giving water that drools
In honor of a wish for peace that stood

On the doorstep waiting, waiting …

Platinum Certificate, Wish for Peace

Wish for Peace

The fragile beauty of the dandelion
In my hand, whose grip on land
Dares you to eradicate its presence in Zion
As it spreads through the wish for peace to lend

A hand to those in need of a blend
Of peace in their days of suffering
Without end.
Wish for peace for them to send

Their children to schools
With filled bellies of fresh food
Sprinkled with life giving water that drools
In honor of a wish for peace that stood

On the doorstep waiting, waiting
Patiently for humanity’s response
To help save those whose beliefs, never straying,
Empowers their wish for peace

For a new generation without
The need to revisit the trauma of today’s
Dire escalations of genocides in a bout
Of cataclysmic fear whose only wish is for peace.

Certificate of excellence, Drum Roll, Die

Drum Roll, Die

Life’s dreams of roses and colored glasses
Have been assassinated by explosions,
Devastation, destruction of homes and gardens,
Where flowers and innocence grew.
In their place, fog, smog, smoke spew
Chocking breaths and arrest hearts that drew
Their last drummer’s beat and fell in death’s pew.
When will their year of restitution
Come to being a realization?
When will they experience the exhiliration
Of being free without groveling?
When will their neighborhoods be overflowing,
Rehousing them, others, a community not governing?

Patience, faith, and unity will invariably
Win the fray always knowing the end is ‘liberty’
While social development soars accordingly.

Kind vs Unkind

Having seen this post, it reminded me of the plight of Palestinians who’ve been oppressed, subjugated, and mistreated for 7 decades, and how even under bombardment, there are men and women trying to help one another. It’s astounding how colonization has fostered a sense of community and kindness to others’ suffering, all of which has been posted on Instagram/ X, if the administrators didn’t have the chance to remove them yet.

The atrocities they have faced and will continue to face are unimaginable and incomprehensible, as it’s too violent to process.

Author: Perfectly Flawed poetry for change. Poetry that critiques colonialism,  injustice,  and fosters self-worth and growth.

Peace Certificate of Excellence

PEACE

Acrostic

Please pray and provide peaceful
Elemental needs for those in danger of
Armed military conquests, who
Convene to critically splice countries to support their
Economies and spread fear of their power.
