Malak Kalmoni. Chehab Thanks for introducing this intriguing new Hungarian poetic form, Malak. Clever use of assonance and consonance in the first three lines that mirrors the lengthening lines, (hon, honey, hopeful,) and then throughout, (lone, loving, tough, lonely.) Excellent contrast of “loving” and “lonely” in a if-you- have-to-make-a-choice scenario. By, Linda Powers O’Dell
APEVA Love
Hon Honey Hopeful, lone Loving is tough Better than lonely
As I face the face on the wall, Its chiseled, geometric form At great odds with my rounder fall Of jaw, cheekbones, wavy hair, crome
Colored eyes, show me a wall Of grey sheets, strong, heavy In its ability to crawl To adventures in imagination’s wavy
Thought process, while the wall Is 2D, unmoving, emotionless in prestine Condition for a crazy ball Where all that’s required is his presence, fine
In looks but empty for no thoughts on the wall Except surviving, not living, and weathering The changes in environments, a call That brings out the eco-protector to come dancing.
As the writing on the face of the wall Is eroded with time, so the face’s identity Is erased like dust in a breeze that will Hold you into its warmth and fly into memory.

Wishes
As the countdown to 2025 starts, My mind takes a long look behind And wonders what wishes, surprises Are in store for 2025 that won’t stand Down to the tests of time.
I wish for a world of peace I wish for a world without violence, I wish for justice to prevail, I wish for family strength and unity, I wish for a world that’s compassionate and humane, I wish for honesty to triumph over lies, I wish that this society’s rules made sense, I wish, I wish, I wish…
Wishing for something and achieving Your goal are separate indeed, as Working hard drives you to attaining Your objective, while just wishing for it to lands In your lap will never happen!
