Certificate of Excellence for my poem: Temple of Love

Thank you, administrators, for the honor and your hard work.

Temple of Love

As love grows from a foundation
Of beauty,  my gaze is in contrition
For those who live devoid of love.
Leave, like, live, lively, longing to love …

As each child, man, and woman need a hive
To promote, programing all with reverence.
A need to bathe in the certitude of being
Cocooned and cherished for just existing.

With each caress, word, gaze, request,
You’re inundated with warmth that’s best
Given in daily doses, so as not to fall
Into depression that’ll turn you into a fetal ball.

Platinum Certificate of Excellence,  Poem: Woman’s Loss

Woman’ Loss

She stands with her bent leg on the wall,
Her formfitting white dress flows and fall
Below her knees, showing a slither of thigh
As she lays back on the white washed wall,

Her black hair coiffed over her shoulder,
As elegant as you please, with sunglasses, reflecter
Of the world, but a mask for her pain,
As a straw hat dangles from tips of finger,

She looks into the sky, wondering
If he’s watching and judging
Her actions after his loss,
Living a life without his supporting

Embrace, as she holds the tears,
Never giving them free reign, she bares
Her soul into her dark glasses and prays
For patience from the One above, and cries.

Certificate of Excellence, My Love

My Love

If “Love opens the most impossible gates;” and
“Love is the gate to all the secrets of the universe.”
Then, love is all powerful, eternal, rebellious, never bland,
But compassionate, understanding In a universe

Filled with dissent, competition, a love of money,
And sin. I give thanks that my love, husband,
Is my rock, my motivator, and one key
To my writing that’s unwavering and always holds my hand.

My love is there for the difficult decisions,
Guidance and friend to our children,
Has sleepless nights when they’re in positions
Of upheaval that require strategic precision.

For me, he is star in a dark night,
The shoulder I cry into when life’s unbearable
Losses enrobe my heart in darkness, as he helps me fight
The devouring abyss making it acceptable.

Five times a week

How often do you walk or run?

I walk almost daily. It’s one way for me I de-stress and stay physically fit. At my age, running isn’t recommended, but I do speed walk and do at least 5 kilometers. When I walk with my husband, the walk becomes a 10Km fast paced walk! Yep, he had to train me, slowly but surely, to reach that goal. I can’t thank him enough for his support.
