Triple Diamond Certificate for my poem,

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Angel Wings

Her acorn blondish hair frames
Her blue eyed eyes, piercing
In their gaze, all seeing
As her grey wings flutter in rhymes

Whose utter grace have underlying
Silver rays that brighten, coalesce
Atop her heart in blissful radiance
Shining like a star, brilliant in showcasing

Her inner heart filled with humanity,
A hunger for equality that stalls
When faced with impunity that crawls
Inconspicuously, stealthily, stealing

Her ethics, yet, she prevails
Using her empathy, strength
Of will to overcome the killing breath
Of death from peers who quails

From her integrity’s effervescence
She builds her community
Of supports, like minded dwellers, impossibly
Impoverished by their beliefs’ conscience

They empower others and selves
To push forward against trends.

Certificate of Excellence for my poem:

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.

Children’s Hunger

Famine, hunger in such young eyes
Makes your heart flutter and cries
Out for the injustice of their plight
Where food is scarce and working is a fight

Among brothers, sisters, kin to survive,
Survive with enough only to strive
The next day, another forage, another clash,
To sustain an entire family in a brush

With death, daily success to survive
Kills the will to endure, while their eyes drive
Knives in your heart for their struggle,
Struggle to stay together and not take the last bubble

Of air before their father, mother,
Cousin bring a tiny loaf of bread, sharer
Of life giving nourishment is never enough
To end the hunger pains or despair enough

To feel safe that another day
Will shine bright with hope to sway
The powers to help end famine,
Children growing old before their time in fine

Slithers of hope that shine
Through black clouds of hopeless brine,
Brine of depression’s hold that flogs
The will to survive another empty stomach that bogs

Their thinking process to when’s
The next meal, how to get it, who’s pens
Do they take from to stave death
Another day where rest, play aren’t in their path.
