I’m highly honored for this award in recognition of my work as a moderator for the group. It’s very challenging and invigorating to read other poets’ works.
My poetry book, Perfectly Flawed poetry for change, is available on all eplatforms including Amazon. It was on the finalist list for the Canadian Book Club Awards 2023.
I’m flabbergasted by the reviews and comments on this particular poem, as the day before I wrote it, my daughter mentioned that my role as a poet will become obsolete soon with the development of AI. My answer was my poem:
Poet or AI
Staring at the blank page, I wonder which words will Walk in the journal in the age Of fake people, news, expectations that kill
The soul of creativity replaced, Replaced by AI, that seems to insist It will take over ingenuity, graced By humanity’s wondrous spirit whose gist
Is made of light, dark, and grey. The rainbow of emotions need to be felt To be expressed, and comparing a bay To a hidden pearl isn’t the pelt
Or part of the its arsenal Of diversity that enriches The text with culturally metaphorical Language that hatches
Between the lines for greater Depth of meaning and comparing The incomparable becoming the promoter Of the noblest of muse to people setting
Precedents and going farther In delving into the unknown Sphere of linguistic wonder That requires a mind of its own.
I am the poet, whose imagination Will eternally spell creation.

Being unproductive not only bores me but also lets me think too deeply. So I make myself busy, reading, writing, cooking, walking the dog, and mostly talking to family. So I bake: Pecan pie!

When I’m in the zone working, I enjoy quiet solitude in order to promote concentration and better writing. When too much background noise is around me, I tend to feel overwhelmed by it, creating a faster heartbeat that can be exhausting.
So, a quiet environment is ideal, but I can be hyperfocused enough to tune out ‘white noise’ in order to achieve my objective.
If I’m doing something manually, exercise, cooking, baking, I enjoy listening to the recitation of the Quraan, as it has a musicality that pumps me with happy endorphins, envigorates my mind, and empowers me with Knowledge and understanding. 😊
Work, work, work, Workers buzzing like bees in fields, Running, squatting, cutting, sewing, Hammering, excavating, rushing.
Always hurrying to meeting Deadlines and never seeming To have time to be smelling The silent burgeoning flowering That sprout quietly without your noticing.
Beauty sneaks up on you while You’re worried what comes next in vile Humanity’s constant vocational Need to be doing instead of contemplate The importance of just faith and being.
Harrowing are your days Of scurrying around in many ways Trying to achieve a goal that’s always Too far a ways.
Slow down, Let your mind be a clown, Laugh up a storm on your own, And have your imagination blown!
