Certificate of Excellence for my poem: HELL O WEEN

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.

HELL O WEEN

The past year has been worse than any
Halloween as it was actually HELL O WEEN …
The Hell of being weaned on what’s seen
On social media’s snippets of genocide, carry

With it atrocities of dismemberment,
Beheaded children, fetuses gutted, children
Bullseyed by snipers, flour line’s broken
By bullets whizzing past victims of bombardment.

So hello, HELL O WEEN, we see
Your inhumanity,
Your unlawful abiding personality,
Your insouciant attitude to killing.  Be

The Hell in our Haloed Halloween for you’ve
Shown us that: unity is strength,
Gen Z still has a conscience whose breath
Of freshness is awakening those who’ve

Followed blindly behind HELL’s demand
For subservience to its god given
Right to rule the world with a broken
Set of laws that are man-made but bind,

Bind those whose ambition
For power is greater than their compassion.

Alien Buddha Press published 3 of my poems: Press Vest, Sounds of War, and MY YEAR OF RESTITUTION

On the first year anniversary of the war in P@l3st1ne, Alien Buddha Press is reminding us of our need to keep our humanity by speaking about the persecution of said people. I wrote another poem on P@l3st1ne that is about pictures that have stuck a chord within me, that I can’t shake because the injustice is against children, babies, and infants.  Those are the greatest victims of any war, as when they survive,  the trauma of what they’ve been through has to be carried,  and it feels like a very heavy burden. 😕

Certificate of Astounding,  poem: Violence

Violence

When aggression reigns
People’s solidarity feigns
Peace to give rise to new
Violence that undermines a few.

Women and children being
Weaker are in danger of prying
Away their self-worth with words’
Derogatory punches that blows …

Blows that rain down like
A thundstorm of screams that aren’t fake,
But rather, breaks ensue
That take eons to heal in a pew.

Escape is sometimes the only
Way to endure this period of powerfully
Oppressive and subjugated conditions
That requires succor from the perfections

Of a society whose aim is self-preservation,
And where victims of violence live in perdition.

Prison and/ or Liberty

“I, a bird from a confined prison, sings for liberation because of the death of liberty.” Mayyu Hamim

When the power of the pen is stronger than the image it represents, people start accepting their confined prison as their only reality.  However, when a people have been confined for decades, their only recourse is no longer humanity’s humanitarian help, but rather a spiritual one, where they rely on justice in the afterlife instead of that of politicians.

For all those who’ve been murdered unnecessarily in Congo, Somalia, Palestine, Bosnia/ Herzegovina, India, Rohinga, and many more, our hearts are bleeding with yours. Plus, if my only contribution is a word, poem, or comment here or there, excuse my powerlessness in the face of global economies that rule our world.

Ode to Indigenous Women

Who are our greatest victims?

Our native women’s rapes?

Over half a century ago,

Their children were of age to

Be abused and killed

Then buried and abandoned.

Abandoned but not forgetting

As parents went unknowing

Of their fates and kept hoping …

Their faith in governments

That oppressed them and forsakes

Their loved one’s destinies

That are only excavated on pleas …

And demands for knowledge

Of their kismet to be able to judge,

Whether to move on, or …

Stay in Limbo’s nescience for

Their needs are trivialized,

While others’ are optimized…

What’s needed to achieve equality

In attaining justice for all humanity

And not only a minority?

In honor of international women’s day against violence. This is only a part of all the violence that occurs against women in the world. Here’s to hoping for an elimination of such practices.
