Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work,
Speedy Skateboard
In his jeans, tee, and baseball cap,
He skates around the city freely,
Going down streets, stairs, jumping fearlessly
Over obstacles, people, pets that hop
Through hoops and loops
Trying to survive a world of violence
That imposes the rule of the jungle, a case
For survival of the fittest, fastest pops
That skitter arrogantly on wheels
Of steel and rubber, faithfully turning,
Eating distances without reading,
As books aren’t what he needs to learn, but feels
That he has to engage in conversation
With neighbors, peers, around parks
Streets, compounds of cement peaks
As he streaks past couples, whose compassion
Lend others a hand when needed,
The elderly who need but a smile,
The children needing games that file
The pressure into a pile of garbage, led
By imagination’s growth through
Piously making use of its power
To creatively solve problem, never cower
As they speed through life in a cue.
