Acrostic


CORRUPTION

Corruct politicians commit crimes
Overlooked for their power trumps
Reality, facts, fairness, equality,
Remembering that by creating
Unprecedented division, depravity, you
Part unity of the people whose humanity
Tends to be set aside for peer pressure
Imposing the rule of the deceiver
Operating on manipulating those weaker
Needing corruption to be rampant while they plan.

Certificate of Excellence for my poem,  Hunger to Survive

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.

Hunger to Survive

The lion lays quietly atop an overhanging hill.
He waits, watches in the vain fervor that his prey
Will come to him in deadly night like a diet pill
That will stop his hunger and permit his teeth to stay
Sharp, glistening white, creating a shiver of fear
Of their ferocity and ability to tear apart an arm,
Or important extremities that flash their spear
Of speed trying to outrun the King.

The atmosphere of fear is so authentic
That I can feel the lion’s eyes shifting silently,
Watching guardedly, waiting patiently to pounce happily
On his unsuspecting prey.  His jaws are cave like
In their imposing strength and force of bite.

Never fear the lion, for you know he attacks
To survive, not for pleasure.
Fear those who appear like sheep, but are
More serpent or fox, for their poisons
Attack the soul and destroy lives as if doing you favors.

Double Gold Certificate: Vanity’s Curse

Vanity’s Curse

From the swirling darkened fog
A wisp of a gorgeous woman
Wrapped haphazardly in blood red smog
Alive in its flow as she moves, an

Astounding beauty, captivatingly attractive,
Sensual, and her sexuality bared for
All to consume closely and become enraptusured
By a fiery beauty hiding an insidious core,

Horrifically rotten with envy,
Hatred, corruption, aggression,
All coalesce within her stare, a visionary
Of destruction, disunity, strife that lend to perfection

Into her spiderweb of infractions
That destroy unity’s equality
And fairness that require absolutions
From a community that venerates all that’s holy.

Wherever there’s equanimity
She presents chaos and superfluous vanity.
