4th place, Diploma Certificate for my poem, Child’s Eyes

Thank you for the honor and your hard work.

Child’s Eyes

Look, look into the eyes of a cuddly child,
The window to hell peaks out instead.

Look, look into the kid’s shy demeanor
That shows he’s older than his seventh year.

He walks, cautiously, looking around, guardedly
For another back hand to the face, that’s lovely.

Look, as he flees swiftly from aggression
As a repeat is all he knows in his vision.

Look, look at his shredded clothing,
Ratty and spotty just like his living.

Look, the shimmer of tears is hovering,
Always expecting another blow that’s rending!

Look, no one’s the wiser,
Look, the guardian is the destroyer.

Look not at the cover,
But at the heart that needs a helper.

Accolade for my poem,  Children’s Hunger

Thank you, administrators, for the accolade and your hard work.

Children’s Hunger

Famine, hunger in such young eyes
Makes your heart flutter and cries
Out for the injustice of their plight
Where food is scarce and working is a fight

Among brothers, sisters, kin to survive,
Survive with enough only to strive
The next day, another forage, another clash,
To sustain an entire family in a brush

….

Children growing old before their time in fine

Slithers of hope that shine
Through black clouds of hopeless brine,
Brine of depression’s hold that flogs
The will to survive another empty stomach that bogs

Their thinking process to when’s

…..

How a person carries themselve

Which aspects do you think makes a person unique?

The way a person carries themselves is a great indicator of their uniqueness. Their confidence shows in their stride, while their eyes give you access to their character and faith. A person’s walk can also create respect for personal space, show respect to others with a little bow, and show they need help with a slight limp. As for the eyes, their shine attracts others into conversations, open up side bars, give an opinion- without speaking-, and sparkle more when laugher is needed to help break the ice.
