Diploma for my writing,  Letter to the Future,

Thank you, administrators, for the honor and your hard work 👏

Letter to self

Dear Laughter of my Innocence,

I have come to note that my laughter has diminished, and I wonder where it has flown to.  All I can remember is that:

“Laughter, in its purest form,  innocence,  clarity,
Should be revered faithfully as its transience

And its arrival are as tangible as smoke
Clouds dispersed by the lightest breeze.
Savor these moments of piety in the stroke
Of a sizzling laugh and let the memory Freeze.”

Chehab, Malak Kalmoni,  ‘Laughter, Brightens My World’, Perfectly Flawed,  2021.

When I think on all the times I’ve let myself down by ignoring my laugh, I shudder at the wasted time. I will advise that you/me bottle up the laughter of your innocence and bring it out into a world so dark, it needs the cheer of such a joyful sound, to lift it from the quagmire of worries we steep ourselves in.  Join me in laughing away your worries.   Place each worry in a box bound by the sound of your guffaw. It then buries that anxiety for you to look at later,  when you’re calmer, less volatile,  more logical, and can make sounder decisions.  Laughter will always be your savior, whether you use it as your arsenal to make life better is up to you. But know, that today, there are therapies based on Laughter, UNC: course in comedy and ethics, laughing yoga, and laughing martial arts.  Because of that, I wonder why we haven’t excavated this secret earlier.
Fill your heart with joy and let it lead you into a brighter tomorrow.

Your loving future self

Diploma for my poem:

Thank you,  administrators, for the honor and your hard work.

Dream, Dream

As children we dream
Dream of life of freedom
Freedom from discipline’s harsh
Harsh standards, imposed by adults,
Adults whose wisdom is widely,
Widely superior,  and only wish,
Wish for the best for their children.
Children then dream of becoming,
Becoming adults, working at the dream,
Dream job, where little to no work,
Work is required, but pays,
Pays a high salary to buy,
Buy all the things they dreamt,
Dreamt of as children, whose parents,
Parents knew better than to spoil
Spoil them into becoming dependent,
Dependent on others to survive,
Survive with their integrity,
Integrity that becomes their bond,
Bond, contract, verbal or written,
Written only as a reminder,
Reminder of obligations that render,
Render their own discipline varied,
Varied from childhood, since,
Since it’s self-imposed, not demanded.
Demanded of your dreams to soar,
Soar as far as your imagination,
Imagination will allow, then go,
Go further, since rules are to be,
Be plundered into submission
Submission to your dream’s wonder.
